So I noticed that the definition of Bolster Defences in the DA Codex is worded differently from previous versions of the ability in other books. This one specifically says "one piece of terrain" instead of limiting it to ruins. So DA can have 3+ cover saves with their ADL.

My question is, should this definition be applied to all armies that have that same ability? It certainly makes tech marines a bit more viable.

No, it only applies to DA units.

You also can't bolster an ADL be cause it is something you bought for your army.

Just an FYI I am bolstering the open terrain in my deployment zone!!!

LOL i am sure they will FAQ at some point.

Really? Where is that stipulation? Not saying you are wrong, just I hadn't heard that before as the ADL is considered terrain (just not specifically ruins), and that stipulation is not in the Bolster Defences definition.

it is in the rule in the DA codex.

Hmmm, it must be the scan that I have, because my DA codex doesn't say anything about the ADL (or purchased terrain) being restricted in the Bolster Defences rule.

Maybe a legally purchased codex has the rules you need?

Nope I have a legally purchased codex and it has no such stipulation.

Pg 32 just says that you can bolster a piece of terrain.

DA Codex, pg 32: Bolster defenses:

...nominate one piece of terrain in your deployment zone (this may not be one you have purchased as part of your army.).

Yes, an ADL is terrain. However, the rule specifically tells you that purchased terrain cannot be bolstered. It's still an improvement over ruins only, though, especially if you don't use ruins in your games often/at all.

My book has the stipulation, it's not in the Summary at the back though, but that's just a summary, not the real rules.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

My digital copy of the codex has the stipulation that it may not be used on purchased terrain.
