An Igloo Deep North in Canada, eh?

Hey all, quick question. Harlequins wreaked a squad of basic cron troops (names I remember not) and with them was an HQ with everliving. He went down, then the crons proceeded to fail their LD test and run. I caught them without difficulty and swept the squad. Opponent left the HQ on, claiming that it is impossible to deny his roll to get back up. Since I wasn't in the mood to argue, I let it slide, but now I do wonder: is this the case?

Thanks

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

Per page 4 of the necron FAQ no they are not allowed to make any Reanimation or everliving rolls.

Wrong. That's if they fall off the table.

Anyway if his unit gets swept then he can't make RP but he can make everliving saves provided you don't cover the 3" perimeter around the EL token.

Since the EL model itself was downed before the unit was swept, it would be able to roll so long as it could stand up within 3" of its marker.

It is debatable. If the overlord was by himself, he still gets to roll (no question there), if the unit is swept them the unit (not the specific model) is removed as casualties, furthermore, no special rule can save the unit (people argue that EL does not save the unit and happens later so it doesn't apply).

All that being said, if GW ever FAQs it, more than likely an IC attached to a unit that is killed before the unit is swept will be allowed to try and stand back up. I doubt they'll allow a swept model to try it though.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

"Q: If an entire unit, including an attached character from a Royal
Court, is wiped out, do you get to make any Reanimation Protocol rolls? (p29)
A: You would only get to make one roll for the attached
character as he has the Ever-living special rule. Note that in this
case, he must be placed within 3" of the counter as his unit has
been wiped out."

Seems pretty clear here, if he can be placed within 3" of his counter he can come back otherwise he's dead.

And it is not worth starting another 20-page thread on whether an EL model can come back from being Swept, which is why I said it is debatable.

Sweeping advance in 6th creates casualties, unlike in 5th where there was no such wording. So Everliving rolls now can be made as normal after a sweeping advance.
