So I've decided that because I really like the model, I'm going to include a Talos in my Dark Eldar army. (Or maybe a Cronos, but I'm 90% Talos right now). However, the question is; what upgrades to take? I'm definitely going to run it with the additional close combat weapon for the +1 to its D6 attacks. My question is - what should its other close combat weapon be upgraded to? Ichor injector for the possibly of Instant-deathing any Monstrous Creatures/Independent Characters the Talos finds itself fighting, or Chainfails for the benefit to its Random Attacks? As well, should I stay with the twin-linked splinter cannon or go with something else for its tail cannon? Any loadout suggestions that don't involve 'put it back on the shelf and use your Ravagers/Razorwings instead' ( ) would be appreciated.

Well if you're dead set on taking a Talos I would probably keep it cheap with the CCW and a TL HB, just because the HB is that awesome. It makes for a solid bullet monkey and can absolutely wreck face in CC, it will stuggle against MEQ bodies however, it's solid against fragile and expensive squads, and very solid in CC with vehicles and other MC's

Keep the twin-linked splinter cannon, take the twin-linked liquifier gun. That is the best Talos configuration.

Keep it cheap, it's best used as an area denial unit so keep the splinter cannon to shoot as it absorbs bullets and so that it can give some back too, twin linked liqui is incredibly dangerous and against MEQ AND TEQ it wrecks face in CC as a monstrous creature it gets AP2 attacks

This. Liquifier and stock tail cannon are your best loadouts. The guns mesh, and the talos is decent enough in CC/at smashing armor that the AT guns and chain flails are good but by no means required. Liquifier guns are quite powerful, and the talos has one that is twin linked, that costs half what you normally pay to put a liquifier on a 1-2 wound model The value you get is insane. Several other things are not bad, but there are a few things to avoid(one in each slot)

1. Ichor Injector. Why the hell do you need this? ID T4+ characters without eternal warrior? The liquifier template or the chain flails are WAY better.

2. Stinger pod. Small S5 blasts on a BS3 model, in an army that spams poison and darklight? At least kill infantry free and cheap, or reliably threaten armor.

3. Close combat weapon. Most expensive option, you could take chain flails+haywire blaster or liquifier+heat lance for the same price. There are always better places to spend points in your list, than giving a MC who is a boss in CC one more attack(they usually wont make it.)

Thing about the Talos is keeping it cheap. If you ever make it cost more than a ravager w/nightshields, you did something wrong.

I second the above, liquifier gun or chain-flails are the best option, unfortunately you cant take both so if you want him there for taking out infantry go with the liquifier gun, I usually run talos's for AT purposes myself so I usually go with chain-flails, but its up to you.

I used to run Chainflails, but the TL Liquifier gun also kicks butt pretty hard. I would avoid all other options, except when you have a few points left lying around after you're finished with your list, in which case you may wish to upgrade the tail weapon. If you really want to run an extra CC weapon, I'd go for a TL Liquifier.

Is Kharn a Commissar that kills enemies or are Commissars Kharn wannabe's who don't have the balls to kill enemies?
