Hi all,

I took the great advice from previous postersand built a Blood Angel force. Unfortunately I felt it had a few gaps, mainly that all my scoring troops were up front raging to and fro taking out enemy units, and also that I didn't have enough firepower against troops - all my guns work best on tanks, vehicles, or big high strength targets. I needed more massed firepower. So I decided to ally with a little bit of IG.

The trade off here for the IG detachment is a unit of Sanguinary Guards. The new list ticks the boxes for assault, shooting, scoring and anti-flyer. Let me know what you think. It's 2030 pts at the moment so need to shave off a few weapons somewhere.

Drop the primaris for Command squad with vox, standard, for 70pts, since
your orders are like psychic powers and also the standard works for the angels since we are battle brothers.

For the angels you will want better utility, rather than the great Bamf that Mephiston is. Drop for 2 jump Libbys
and take divination, biomancy to beef up the assault marines. And a jump Sang priest is mandatory for the ASM

If your running devastators bring Corbulo, The Icarus lascannon, and straight missile launchers on the Dev teams they are 15 points cheaper than the Baal Predators.

DC in a SR Meh i find that tose points could go into a vendetta and keep the savings to invest in voxs for the guardsmen

Over all not bad

Thanks for the tips. Certainly makes for an interesting change. So do you mean put Corbulo with the Devastators?

Alright, with those changes, and I had to do some economising, and I'm still over by 55...

I like your idea in the second build.
However if you need to get rid of 55 pts, one way could be to get rid of the HB sidesponsons of your Baals.

Thanks mate but wouldnt that leave empty sponsons?

Yes, but when moving far, you get to fire 2x WPN @ full BS. Meaning that when doing so, you get to fire 1 HB.

Yes, it might be worth the 30pts. But in my opinion, I cannot come up with anything else to cut in your list that would be more suitable ...

I can be totally wrong though That's what I would've done.

I would drop the the heavy bolters off the vendettas. The heavy bolters and lascannons dont really go together, and you should be shooting the lascannons at other fliers/tanks

Thanks. I guess if I'm always using it to aim at fliers and tanks the HBs would be useless, as you say!

I think that gets me below 2000

You probably don't need two priests to cover your ASM, and I doubt Corbs is worth the points just for the 5 devastators. Also throw a power weapon on a priest for more WS5 goodness.

I would also suggest swapping the vendetta HBs for an astropath? Coming in on 2+ and rerolling outflanks is amazing.

If you make full use of your reserves, the astropath alone is worth taking a CCS. Just remember, though, if your opponent has flyers, you want your Vendettas to come out second so they can make a beeline for them. You don't have to take the +1 to Reserve roll if you don't want to. Also, lose the IC Lascannon and put in a comms relay which allows you to reroll any reserve roll, good or bad. With both, you maximise your strategic options.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

You mean the Icarus?

Thanks - so with only one priest, will I need to keep the two ASM squads fairly close to one another?

Instead of Corbulo, would it be worth taking a chaplain for the DC?

Cheers for the help guys.

It is similar to a list I run.

A few tips.

1. put a libby with the inf squads and blob them. This gives the whole blob ATSKNF , and can cast shield of sanguinius or prescience to taste.

2. drop the Auto cannon from the inf sqds and buy 3-4 HWS. They score, can use Bring it down, and if 12" from the banner can re-roll their LD 7 checks.

3. death company dreads from a SR with blood talons wipe whole sqds of MeQ.

I have plenty more for this type of list but these 3 are a good start.

Thanks mate.

So would you suggest perhaps 1 SR and 1 Vendetta? I'll have some spare points if I don't take Corbulo and drop one of the Sang Priests

OK, I've taken all this into account - and tried to combine this excellent advice with my own thoughts for the list. It's still 35 points over so I need to economise somewhere. But I think it's looking very competitive.

BA - 1455

10x ASM with Sang Priest (with PF)

8 x DC (in Drop Pod)

1x DC Dreadnought (in Storm Raven)

1x Baal Predator with AC, empty sponsons
1x Baal Predator with AC, empty sponsons

5x Devastators with MLs
1x Storm Raven with TL LC, TL MM

Aegis Defence Line with Icarus LC

IG- 490

CCS with Astropath and Regimental Banner

Platoon Command Squad
Heavy Weapon Squad - 1 mortar, 1 LC, 1 Autocannon
1 x Infantry Squad
1 x Infantry Squad
1 x Infantry Squad

1x Vendetta with TL LC

The plan will be to start with the Devs, CCS, IG, Lib and Baals on the board. Group the Lib with the IG blob, keep the HWS with the CCS around the Aegis Line, with the Devs not far off. Use the blob to push forward to objectives, and then begin deep striking with the ASMs and DC, supported by the Baals moving forward. The SR will come on in the second turn, drop the DC dreadnought, with the Vendetta to come on in the third turn and go for sky control with the now-empty SR. The Icarus will be blasting away at droppods and fliers in the meantime (which my enemies seem to use a lot of!).

The SR does not come in on turn 2 33% of the time. Plan accordingly.

Good point. With an Astropath, it'll be a 16.66% chance for it to stay at home, but I should absolutely plan for that.
