On top of a mountain.

Hi guys. I'm thinking of starting a Dark Eldar army at some point so I'd like to get your opinion on the list I wrote.
I have no experience playing with or against Dark Eldar so I wrote this based on what looks good in the Codex.

I'd rather not have any Haemonculus stuff in this army out of personal preference.
I was thinking of using Duke Sliscus, as I have a lot of units with Combat Drugs but I couldn't find the points to accommodate him. If you think he's worth it and you see a way for me to use him please tell me.

Other than that please help me improve anything in the list that you think could be better.

Hi there, I'm not a dark eldar player myself but my most regular opponent is and I've got a pretty good idea about the army. You've not gone too far wrong but a couple of things I might suggest are:

Reconsider your HQ. She's 85 points for something that doesn't buff other units (like a Haemonculus) or is an effect tank/melee beast (Archon with Shadowfield).

Think carefully about your incubi. They really want the protection of a shadowfield archon and/or the free FNP of a Haemon. This is also a very big bomb unit who's transport is going to be blaster out of the sky very quickly.

More venoms. Venoms are a great tool box transport. Given the point below, maybe consider swapping a raider or two to venoms. And give them nightshields. Its worth it with pre-measuring.

Wyches are ... okay. Getting into combat is a pain due to the low armour and toughness. Open ground will kill them fast and the raiders have damp cardboard for armour. Dark Eldar are *not* a combat army.

Most players will be more scared of 10 warriors in a boat with splinter racks than 10 wyches. A lot more. Consider the Duke for hilarity of re-roll hits, 3+ to wound splinter rifles.

Heilons are rubbish. Don't take them. Harsh but true. For less points than 10 heilons, get 6 revears w/t 2 blasters (162) - you will not be disappointed. With a frankly silly 48" potential move, skilled rider + jink, the ability to wound from a move AND some anti-tank that dark eldar struggle with - they're great. Awesome models too.

Consider getting some true-born with blasters in a venom. Blaster shots are great. And dark eldar need more than single dark lances.

Consider something along the lines of the below, I don't have the points to hand but it should be around 1500. .

Archon, Shadow Field, Huskblade, Soul Trap, Combat Drugs
9 Wyches, Raider
3 Trueborn, 3 Blasters, Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Night Shields
3 Trueborn, 3 Blasters, Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Night Shields
5 Warriors, Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Night Shields
5 Warriors, Venom, Extra Splinter Cannon, Night Shields
6 Reavers, 2 Blasters

Ravager
Razorwing, Flickerfield

White Scars 2000 points
Guard 3000~ points
Grey Knights 875 points

A succbus is not a bad HQ for smaller games, but once you get past 1k you need a con, hameys or named characters. The duke is awesome for a kabbie boat, and good if your wytch heavy.

The ONLY reason to take hellions is if you have the baron, and you better take a ton. Reavers are good(and they have combat drugs, which is cool for the duke)

Big wytch squads are not what they used to be, and really need haywire greandes. Better to run just one of these as maybe a counter charge unit for the incubi, make the other into a second haywitch squad in a venom.

9 incubi is way overkill, and without assault grenades they don't reall matter. 6-7 should do the job fine.
Get a con with shadow field, combat drugs(off chance of a 6 is awesome for incubi), phantasm grenade launcher(to strike at I6 instead of I1) and then your choice of weapon. Huskblade+soul trap is nice, but really expensive and your incubi are loaded with AP2 attacks and an S3 con is not THAT impressive. An agonizer is cheaper, but suffers from ap3. A venom blade is incredibly cheap for what it can do. I like the combo of the venom blade and huskblade(throw a grenade if you want, but the squad is not shooty to begin with) so you can force wounds when needed, or have a AP2 ID weapon for challenges.

Consider aethersais on the assault raiders, so they can get into range by turn 2. A bad roll for charging could cost you either squad, so it helps to have that extra movement.

On top of a mountain.

What's wrong with Hellions? According to my calculations they should perform decently in CC.

I would have preferred to have more Wyches and less Warrior gunboats, but I realize that Wyches truly aren't as good.
I do however want at least 4 Troops and some more survivable ones than 5 Warriors in a Venom. I guess I'll have to settle for Raider gunboats.

I get your points about the Succubus and Incubi and will make changes accordingly.

Perhaps Beastmasters would be a better fast attack choice than Hellions?
How does this look?

Only real problem with Hellions (without the Baron) is their save, there's nothing wrong with their CC ability so long as they get there. They need cover. But they also take dangerous terrain checks in cover. Baron fixes everything with them. Rerolls dangerous terrain checks, adds stealth, and practically perfect hit-and-run (along with making them troops). I love Hellions, but they're only impressive with the Baron.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

Thats a nice spot on 1500. The only thing I question is the lack of darklight, but you have haywitches, and razorwings can rip tanks open if need be. Good beastpack build.

Creeping hit the nail on the head about the hellions. They do just fine in CC(also, people forget they have assault 2 splinter weapons, making a large squad pretty good at shooting). They die to a stiff breeze in the open. The baron makes sure they get there, gives them assault grenades, and lets them become a scoring unit.
