Orc Bully with a Peg Leg

Hi all,

I have just started collecting Warmachine figs to give it a try (played 40K for a good while now) and will be playing my first match today. I managed to convince my Fiance to give it a shot as well though she isnt a gamer girl (Im trying to convert her). My question is I picked up a Circle of Orboros Battle Kit for her and some minion figs bc she liked the way they looked. She has Kaya, Feral Warpwolf Heavy Warbeast, and 2 Argus Light Warbeasts. She also has the Totum Hunter and Gobbler Bellows from minions.

I plan on helping her expand the army and wanted to know what are some good choices to go with the Orboros Battlekit? What are the first few additional models you would recommend?

Thanks for any help,
jp

Shifting Stones of course. At least one set, and maybe the ua. Then maybe a Gorax.

Things that I see played a lot in Circle tournament lists are Druids, Shifting Stones, Gorax, Stalker. If you fancy expanding the warlock you are using then you can also look at the construct warbeasts as some other warlocks would run those better than Kaya.

But those first things I mentioned should get you on your way.

Awesome thanks, yeah she seemed to enjoy playing. Luckily one of the other players was a Circle player as well so she got to try out a Griffin or something like that. I looked into the stones those seem like a a def buy for her and the Gorax. Are there any Warlocks you'd recommend that would be worth the first try and not to crazy for a newbie.

I'd say the UA is very much required for the shifting stones. Giving
stealth takes away a huge weakness of the stones. If one
stone pops, you can't teleport. Another reason to take the UA is that
he extends their command range, so they can be placed further
apart. If you like pKaya's playstyle, I'd really recommend eKaya or
even Kromac.

Is the UA the Stone keeper or something like that?

Circle have a guy with a bird on his hand - he is awesome.
He shoots the bird, then teleports to the guy that he shot and does a threshing attack that hits everyone in his front arc.

People pretty much covered it, but I'll throw in my suggestions too.

Beasts: Stalker and Gorax are good beasts with anyone. Ghetorix is also worth looking into, he costs more points, but he is very self sufficient.

Casters: Kromac, Kaya, and eKaya can all pretty much run the same beasts and they can all run a lot of beasts.

Units: Druids are great, but Kromac doesn't really need them. They are still a good purchase for any circle player though. I see most Kromac players using the tharn ladies with the javelins to trigger warpath. Stones are good with anyone also.

Solos: Lord of the Feast is great against units. Wilder is handy for controlling your beasts. Blackclad Wayfarer also adds some nice support

I just got the 2 player battlebox and already got a hevy warbeast kit. My plan is to magnetize them so I can field any 2 of the stalkers.

Since the battlebox comes with the warpborn skinwalkers I am getting an Alpha to go with them.

Not a huge kaya fan so also plan on getting Kromac. He looks fun to play.

Otherwise things on my short list:
Druids
Shifting stones
Tharn wolfriders
Lord of the Feast (becuase my friend has used him to tear apart my army many times)

These units seem to work well with most casters/lists so I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

As a new player myself I suggest checking out Battlecollege. It's a wiki that just gives a rundown of pretty much everything as well as some tips on how to get the most out of each unit. Had a few games recently and it was thanks to Battlecollege that I got a couple of wins vs a friend who has played for a while.

battlecollege can be hit or miss. But that pretty much goes without saying for stuff on the internet.

I'd also check out the PP forums. The circle forum in particular has ALOT of articles and information. Though the PP forums tend to turn into a bunch of people all saying and thinking the same thing. But so far the Circle forums seem to be more think-tank and less think-like-zombies.

Well yeah as with everything online you have to take it with a pinch of salt. But if you are looking for basics it's a good place to start. Once you become familiar with the rules you can start adding your own personal flavour. I simply used Battlecollege to give me an idea of the basic combos and have now figured out my own preferred playstyle.

After the initial boxed set I would proxy a few different casters since it is essentially them who dictate what kind of list you use. Buy the ones that stand out that to fit your Fiance's playstyle.

Good luck and have fun.
