A very basic list focused on troops and shooting, with not a lot of frills...

Should the Annihilation/Catacomb Barges use Gauss or Tesla Cannons (or mix-n-match)?

Necron Overlord, 170 pts (Staff of Light)
1 Catacomb Command Barge (TL-Tesla Destructor, Gauss Cannon)

Royal Court, 120 pts
2 Harbinger of the Storm (Voltaic Staff)
2 Harbinger of Destruction (Eldritch Staff)

Necron Overlord, 170 pts (Staff of Light)
1 Catacomb Command Barge (TL-Tesla Destructor, Gauss Cannon)

Royal Court, 120 pts
2 Harbinger of the Storm (Voltaic Staff)
2 Harbinger of Destruction (Eldritch Staff)

5 Necron Warriors, 165 pts (Gauss Flayer)
1 Night Scythe (TL-Tesla Destructor)

5 Necron Warriors, 165 pts (Gauss Flayer)
1 Night Scythe (TL-Tesla Destructor)

5 Necron Warriors, 165 pts (Gauss Flayer)
1 Night Scythe (TL-Tesla Destructor)

5 Necron Warriors, 165 pts (Gauss Flayer)
1 Night Scythe (TL-Tesla Destructor)

10 Necron Immortals, 170 pts (Telsa Carbine)

10 Necron Immortals, 170 pts (Tesla Carbine)

Annihilation Barge, 90 pts (TL-Tesla Destructor, Tesla Cannon)

Annihilation Barge, 90 pts (TL-Tesla Destructor, Tesla Cannon)

Annihilation Barge, 90 pts (TL-Tesla Destructor, Tesla Cannon)

1850 Total Points

A Voltaic Staff go in each Night Scythe.
Two Eldritch Staves goes in each squad of Immortals.

Gauss or Tesla Cannons?

Also, I just got an Airbrush and Compressor, so I'm ready to paint up the town. For colors, I'm thinking of two competing palettes. Which one do you like better?

Palette 1 (more traditional) - Base Metallic Silver, joints and shading in flat black. Highlights and armor overlays in Metallic Blue (Sapphire almost Royal Blue). Weapon lighting effects flat light blue to white.

Palette 2 (more striking) - Base Metallic Blue, joints and shading in flat black. Highlights and armor overlays in Metallic Black with Metallic Silver super highlights. Weapon lighting effects flat light blue to white.

Additional customization/conversion ideas:
Spoiler:

Space Marine casualties on the bases of the Night Scythes. At least one of them cut into 2 halves from a Death Ray. (I have 1/16th inch thick cork lining the base, so a nice deep, blackened, gauged line in the cork would look cool for the remnants of the Death Ray, and a split Marine right down the line.)

Spoiler:
Since I'm going to get a box of Lych Guard to make some Crypteks, I want to use a pair of Lych Shields and make decorative living metal "wings" for my Warlord.

Spoiler:
For a Harbinger of Destruction, I want to use a Deathmark's sniper rifle and use some staff parts to convert it into a "sniper-staff". (Think Star Gate Jaffa Staff Weapon, in sniper mode)

I'd go pallate 2, and make sure you get a warscythe on those Overlords, the whole point of the CCB is the sweep attacks, and without a warscythe, they aren't much of a threat.
To afford it, maybe drop an immortal off each squad. Leaves you 14 points left over, grab an extra warrior for a squad, and you're at 1849

With all these Tesla Destructors on the board (NS+AB+CCB) you'll may choose to take Gauss Cannons on barges.
I don't know honestly how they will help you on AV targets.

I do personally go all Tesla.

Nice list anyway.

C/C completely missing but otherwise very nice.

For the tesla or gauss on barges, I have done the math before and for A.Barges it is always beneficial to give them tesla. Since you are always moving the A.Barge to get the 5+ jink save you have to snapfire your secondary which makes the tesla better in all circumstances except when firing against AV13+.

However I find that gauss cannons are better on the command barge since it doesn't have to fire it as a snapshot and the ap3 can be useful against marines.

I would do the full Tesla on the barges, it will hit more frequently when snap firing, netting you more wounds.

The most efficient setup is A. Barges with underslung Tesla and Command Barges with underslung Guass. The A. Barges should always move at least 6" to get their jink save so you will be snapfiring the underslung weapon. The tesla will allow you more hits if you do roll that 6. The command barges are fast vehicles so they can still go 12" and fire their one weapon. 3+ armor is so prevalent the ap3 of guass cannon is a better buy on the fast command barge.

How about dropping one Harby of Storm to get the Overlords upgraded with Warscythes?

gauss vs armies w/ 4+,5+6+save, tesla vs MEQ and no save

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Definitely get warscythes if you have your overlord in a CCB, if not its debateable. i prefer to do so but you dont have to.
