Recently it was pointed out to me that there is a whole community of new Malifaux players out there who potentially do not go onto the Wyrd forums, or might miss key posts on said forums. Now, I know podcasts are not for everyone, but for those who are interested there are a number of excellent Malifaux podcasts out there.

I have to say I am heavily biased to my own podcast, Gamers Lounge. Many of our discussions are focused on more experienced players, but we try and answer as many listener email questions as possible. We also cover a whole host of topics when it comes to Malifaux. In addition, I am blessed to have gotten some of the best insider interviews with the Wyrd developers among the variety of podcasts.

Aside from Gamers Lounge, there are a number of other podcasts out there that are really good as well. I listen to all of the ones on this list, either regularly to to the Malifaux specific episodes. I hope this helps some of the new Dakka-ites who are getting into Malifaux find something to listen to.

Do you have any advice for someone looking to start a gaming podcast as well? It's been something that has always interested me, just could never get it off the ground.

I have a couple suggestions, and would be more than willing to help out with advice if you decide to go down the road of starting a podcast.

For suggestions:
- Co-hosts. Find good co-hosts that you can talk with and that you really gel with when recording. Solo podcasts (in my opinion) are pretty tough to pull off. Podcasts that seem to work the best all have 2 or more hosts to bounce off each-other.
- Figure out a format that your comfortable with. If your comfortable with your format and interested in what your talking about, this comes across in the podcast itself.
- Get a good microphone. I played around with several microphones and mixers before I found a set that I was comfortable with. The microphones tend to be the most important part.
- Be prepared to spend money. Podcasting is very similar to Mini-wargaming in that it might be cheap to get the initial stuff to get started, but the costs build up quickly. Since starting Gamers Lounge I have been through 7 Microphones, 3 Mixers, 2 sets of recording software, 4 sets of headphones, untold numbers of cables and connectors, and I just got a new laptop. None of that includes miscellaneous stuff I would never have originally thought of, like a pop filter and such. On top of that I am already looking at a new mixer to replace my current one. It's more functionality than the current one not working, but every time I have upgrades to a new mixer its cost me nearly twice as much as the mixer I am upgrading from.

Man, I lurv podcasts. They are the best thing to do with bandwith WHILE PAINTING. Obviously, other things can get my attention when my hands are free, on the internet.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I just listened to the latest episode. I like it. It'll be great to listen to while painting.

Maybe less talk about pizza? I kid, I kid.
