Hey everyone!

Im sure anyone even semi-interested in modern warfare games and simulators has heard about ArmA 2? Well, for my first explorations into Force on Force, my group of friends and I have decided to try to replicate Operation Harvest Red from ArmA 2! However, we are VERY new to modern stuff and aren't sure about many of the names in miniatures for the era. So, I am putting our trust in the hands of the Dakka community.

Now, the scale we are using is 20mm. The miniature armies we need are: US Marines, Modern (Non Soviet) Russians, and a generic looking Defense Force with Russian tech (so AK's and T-72's). Some civilian guerrillas/militia would be cool too, but not needed for the campaign.

For the US troops we are most likely using Elhiem's US Marines line since we all liked the look of them the best, but we are lost on the Russians and "Generic" Forces. If anyone can point us in the right direction towards good 20mm forces for them, I would forever owe you what ever you wish Pics are useful as well, but that's not needed if it's a pain

Also, if anyone has some good companies for 20mm/1:72 scale vehicles (we need T-72's, M1A1's, and assorted BMP's and Marine vehicles) that is also useful but I see this being a mostly Infantry fight.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Why not use Elhiem Russians? Matt at Elhiem has loads of stuff... Russians, Middle East types, Cold War stuff, guerillas...

He does them in normal, in camo suits and with body armour.

They also fit well with the stuff from Under Fire Miniatures who do Russians for Checnya;

As for vehicles, well Britannia Miniatures do BMPs, T-55, T-62s and BDRMs. TheHobbyden do BTR-50, BTR-60s and T-72s;

TheHobbyden also have loads of pre-built diecasts too.

There are masses of kits and diecasts available.

Ah thank you!

I wasn't gonna use the Elhiem Russians for the Russians mostly because I was thinking of using them for the Defense Forces (Since, after close inspection, painted right the Soviets with Body Armor look *exactly* like the Defense Forces in the game).

But, I might if I find a better substitute for the CDF. For the guerrillas, browsing Elhiem's website I can't seem to find irregulars that don't scream "Middle Eastern" or "Africa"

However, I may do this. Use the Elhiem Marines for the US Marines, use the Elhiem Russians for the CDF, and maybe "cheat" a little bit and use the Russians for the actual Russians as well (the paint scheme and TO&E should be enough to tell them apart).

Still looking for proper, Eastern European looking rebels though. You mentioned Under Fire, and I was thinking about using their Checnen Rebel line for them since they look the part the best

EDIT: I was looking around and found Liberation/RH miniatures that has a "Multipurpose" range, specifically one pack that has 6 figures with SKS rifles. Unfortunately, I can't find pictures of ANY Liberation miniatures. Can someone vouch for quality?

Liberation are smaller than Elhiem with a more 'cartoony' look to them;

For me the Liberation style doesnt do it and I dont think they fit with Elhiem stuff. You may not be so bothered by the difference of course.
