I've been away from 40k for many years. I gave away ~2500 points of shooty Ultramarines when I got out of the hobby. As a player I lost well over half the games I played back in the day. It left me very dissatisfied, and at the time I was glad to be quit of them.
I recently hooked back up with an old friend who still plays regularly, so I'm thinking of starting a new army. I'm thinking a total cheese fest, one trick pony army. That way I know going in that I'm going to lose half the games I play, so when I lose it won't be a disappointment.
The cheesy army I'm thinking about is a Blood Angels all-Jump Pack army. My FLAGS usually plays 1750 point games in their leagues, so this is what I'm thinking:
Captain, Jump Pack, Power Sword (140)
Assault Squad x10, SGT w/ P. Fist (215)
Assault Squad x10, SGT w/ P. Fist (215)
Assault Squad x10, SGT w/ P. Fist (215)
Assault Squad x10, SGT w/ P. Fist (215)

That's 71 MEQs with Jump Packs just slathering to get into assault. And they can be deployed as 14 Combat Squads.
Yeah, there's a lot of things this army can't handle. Like I said, I know I'm gonna lose a lot of my games. But any infantry-heavy MEQ army (and that's most of the armies out there) this army is gonna TEAR UP. Automatically Appended Next Post: Like I said, I've been out of the game for a while so I'm a little out of touch on "default" wargear options. Back in the day EVERY Vet Sgt got a "hidden" P. Fist. It was just the way people played. I'm reading now that P. fists aren't as cool anymore because of Challanges. I still want some P. Fists. I'm not trying to lose games. I also don't want to drop my model count. So I thought:

My advice: Take some sanguinary priests. They really do hold your army together. Also, Vanguard vets... In my opinion you get the best value out of them if you use them exclusively to tie up something dangerous in combat until the rest of the army gets in; this especially goes if you are going for some deepstrike dickery. It keeps the heat off your freshly deep striked units until they can charge. Since that, IMO, is their best use, rather than using them to wipe out squads, you should either run them with near nothing like you already are OR give them all storm shields to guarantee that they can tie up anything for a little while

My thought is to Combat Squad them all. I'll attach one Combat Squad of Vets to the Captain as an escort. The squads without Power Whatever I'll send up first to draw fire & tie things up. Then my augmented squads can close & hit.
What powers do the Priests offer?

I would personally drop one of the squads to get a 2 priest with jump packs, and use the other points to give some guys melta guns.

I think I'll drop all the SGTs to BP & P. Sword. That will save me 40 points off List 2. I'll use those 40 points to buy all the SGTs Melta Bombs. That will ding me right back at 1750 exactly.

I would drop the vanguard vets, extremly over priced
Also I would equipped your Assualt squads with two melta guns or melta and flamers
I would also add priests the FNP is great

Vets may be over priced but in this kind of list they can well do their money's worth. It should hold off the opponents shooting forces and allow the rest of the army to advance. I totally agree for the melta guns though.

Give the captain a boot to the ass and take a librarian with JP. he can make a 6" bubble of cover and boost his squads assault performance with psychic powers. The captain really doesn't offer much.

i second getting rid of the vets and captain and getting 2 priests and a librarian with divination powers.The primaris (free) diviantion power lets you reroll missed to hits in combat and with a 10-man assault squad that is awesome.
if you want to keep to an all jump list in some ways a stormraven might be fun for some extra firepower. it kind of fits the seem of a death from the skies approach and lets you deal with some heavy things.

Drop the Vets, add Priests & Meltaguns. This is quickly moving from a one-trick pony cheese list to a competative army. Not sure how I feel about that.
I like the idea of getting more ICs w/ P. Swords. Run several units with a Priest w/ P. Sword plus Vet Sgt w/ P. Fist. Go ahead, challange me.
That's why I want to keep the Captain - For the I5.
The only "problem" I see is my list would go from 71 slathering Blood Angels with Jump Packs to 55 slathering Blood Angels with Jump Packs. 71 sure sounds better than 55.
Let me toy with the list and see what I end up with.

The problem is that its not even cheese. There are plenty of meq lists that will hammer your BA in HTH. And that's with sanguinary priest support.

You cannot take prescience and Wings of Sanguinus since you have to swap out all codex powers for BRB powers. So, the answer is jump pack. Take the Epistolary if you can spare the points.
