Subject: horde marines tactics?

I've realized when I was cleaning house today that I got wayy too many tac marines like 60 of the buggers with various heavy weapons and some sarge's thrown in there so I decide to myself why not go for a all foot horde list of marines?
Now, what do you guys think would work best with this madness?
Blood angels? (sorry, don't have jump pack backpacks unfortunately)
vanilla marines? - if so, what flavor?
space wolves?
dark angeles?
black templar?
CMS even?

depends on your exact loadout..
if you have a lot of scouts aswell, go with black templar, they are the SM horde codex with squads of up to 20 t4 models(10 marines and 10 scouts/initiates)
if you only have marines without the jumppacks, go for vanilla, they have acces to tacticals, sternguards and devastators with the best use.
dark angels, I do not know that much about them, but I guess that with the new codex they tend to be quite expensive... no hordes there
blood angels are fun with all out infantry, but you'll need jumppacks(available on GW site)
CSM I just do not like, but is doable for hordes, they have squads up to 20 marines if you'd like
space wolves could also be fun, haven't studied on them that much..
my suggestion would be just vanilla marines - get kantor and a libby as HQ, convert some marines to sternguards, assemble some tacticals and devastators, add an ADL and/or some dirt cheap rhino's/razorbacks, landspeeders drop pods and if it fits a thunderfire cannon, it will be a good list:
kantor
libby w/ avenger and null zone
sternguard 10 marines
sternguard 10 marines
drop pod
drop pod
tactical 10 marines
tactical 10 marines
(tactical 10 marines)
rhino
rhino
devastator 5 marines
devastator 5 marines
thunderfire cannon
this list is somewhere between 1500 and 2250 points I guess
and uses 50-60 marines, you'll have armor in it as well with your tanks and pods so you have some distraction for your opponent
its a flavour i have, perhaps you'd like it different, but I hope this helped

chaos mark of khorne (not berzerkers) horde with CCW and pistol, each model has 4 attacks on the charge and can go in groups of 20, glance AV 10 to death and bring Havocs for AV 11-12 and Oblits for 13-14. or you can bring vindicators and some spawn and bikes to rush your opponent making him want to go for your scary vindicators but get crushed in CC by the rest of your army.
to run all 60 marines with MoK and Icon of Wrath (gives furious charge and reroll charge) it'd be 960 pts giving you a very solid troop selection while also allowing enough room for the rest of your army

It's the cost of a slightly tooled up Raider for 20 BolterChaos Marines. Not bad at all, if you know you're playing a horde list just dakka to death!

Salamanders can be a great foot marine army, especially if you have a lot of flamers/meltas and multi meltas. Get Vulkan to lead em.

I'd say the best options are DA with no upgrades if you can swing the models (140 per squad), or SW with flamer+whatever special weapon (150 per squad)
If we're talking horde we're talking using all 60 of those guys, so you want to keep them as cheap as possible and use your numbers as you main advantage, so keep em cheap and take as many other things as you can in the other slots.

Agreed, "More Dakka" - the new Dark Angels codex looks to offer great options for inexpensive horde marines (if that's not an oxymoron!), allowing you to forgo veteran sergeants, not charging you for "free" flamers and multimeltas prebuilt into the squad cost, and allowing single special or heavy weapon options in 5 man squads if you so desire.

Actually BA are an often overlooked option in this case. Imagine 60 BA tac/sternG marines with lascanons behind and ADL and with sanguinary priests giving them all FNP, splash in a SR for long range objectives and flier hunting and you have your self an insanely durable gunline with an annoying amount of numbers.
