I'm attempting to erase chapter markings on marines and then sculpt my own but the sculpting tool feels somewhat clumsy is the only way i can explain it. Maybe its becuase I'm just starting, but I'm trying to make a shape and then sculpt details inside the shape. My problem seems like the tool doesn't have a sharp enough point to it. Can anyone recomend a set of tools that would allow for better or finer details or were I might find some for a reasonable price.

Alot of people use dentist tools. You get a set off ebay quite cheaply.

those army painter ones look good. Can you get those at the Warstore?

How expensive are the dentist tools?

You can buy dentist tools from a pharmacy, and they'll cost you 5-10 dollars. You could probably get them at Rite-Aid or DuaneReade. And yes, you can get those Army Painter ones at the Warstore. Just check their website.

I got mine at HobbyLobby for 6$ the pack has 8 tools in it. I think the retail was 12$ but they have 50% off sales all the time.

I'm attempting to conserve parts of the designs on the shoulder pads and add to them. Should I be using green stuff for this or is there another product that is easier to work with? Also do you shape your designs first and then apply them to your surface or do you put the sculpting material in place and shape it on the surface itself

I'm pretty sure what most people do is make a cast of the designs and make a bunch, seems an easier way to go about it. There are plenty of tutorials for making casts.
