It's a 21st Century Toys StuG my mother picked up at a garage sale many moons ago. It's befrit of any form of offensive weapons - it has no gun, it doesn't even have an MG34.

I was thinking of trying to convert it into a Warhammer tank (or other form of assault gun) since bitz would probably be cheaper than proper models. I'm cheap because I'm broke - I seriously would paint up my old green army men I otherwise never use and the acompanying tank to try and get it to pass as an Imperial Guard regiment. However, I'm more interested, at the moment. in trying to breath new life into my broken StuG, and I also want to know what rules I would have to make it play by in order to be legal. I've got it's dimensions as well:

6.9cmx19.3cmx9.9cm (HeightxLengthxWidth). I've probably fudged them though, because I was using a clear ruler and couldn't make out what it actually was. I'll need to use a proper tape measure...

Regardless, I want to know if I could even make this thing legal or not. Also, if this is the wrong forum, please don't hesitate to point me in the right direction.

Thanks, and cheers!

Might make a nice hellhound for guard, sounds about the right size and shape. Depends who you play with really, whatever rules they are happy to accept! Used to use all sorts of stuff as other stuff, used Optimus Prime as a dreadnought once. Where you gonna be playing? In a GW store they can get a bit picky sometimes but othwise I can't see any probs with using it as almost any tank as long it's roughly the right size.

Put some big-ish missiles on it and call it a Manticore. Or put a bigger missile on it and call it a Deathstrike. Or, if you have the materials to make a turret, a Hellhound.

I never thought of a Hellhound! I was thinking I could file down the mantlet and place a Battle cannon or Lascannon on it and stick a Heavy Stubber on the gun shield on top of it, but a Flamethrower tank wasn't something I figured. Thanks for the idea!

Rocket Artillery is also something else that could work. I guess it depends on what I can get my hands on or make myself.

buy an appropriately small pvc tube or any similar sized "tube" for a barrel. Breath new life into it by making it into an ordinance piece. Ground pounders...

I've done multiple StuG hellhound conversions. They can make some nice looking models and if you make it look good people won't worry too much that the StuG doesn't actually have a turret on the model. The model you have doesn't sound any larger than 1/35th scale which I've used for plenty 40k conversions. Shouldn't be too hard to find either a hellhound inferno cannon or some other heavy flamer options to use as the main weapon. Don't forget the heavy bolter for the front of the vehicle either.

It strikes me as filling a long-range role, like the Basilisk.

If you had a brumbar you could use it as a passable griffon. You could certainly use the body and tweak it to mount a gun on top of it like the basilisk if you wanted to. Pretty much you can do whatever you want as long as your opponent can easily tell what kind of vehicle it is in a game. Don't just put a heavy stubber on it and then claim it is a basilisk when it has no obvious cannon on it. Those kind of things annoy people.

I would recommend finding or converting weapons that would be useable in 40k for it and using counts-as to use it as an existing vehicle. Possibly one of the artillery vehicles. I know Dondrekhan uses vehicles of this design for artillery vehicles. Then repaint it to match your army.

As a discussion grows in length, the probability of a comparison to Matt Ward or Gray Knights approaches one.
