The halberd conversions for WoC are for their right hand only. I could put a shield or AHW in their left, but it seems kind of weird. Ideas?

A halberd is a two handed weapon, you will only be able to use it in hth. If you equip shields you can benefit from them until hth combat.

Right, and the halberd conversions are only using one hand, hence my dilemma.

The additional hand weapon won't give you any bonuses but a shield would until you reach combat. Once you get into combat you are only using the halberd so I would go for the shield since you have a better armor save against missile weapons.
