Leaping Dog Warrior

Was thinking of try this out. what do you think?
Asteroth the Grim
Reclusiarch
Sanguinary Priest - JP - PW
ASM - 10man - 2 flamers - Sgt w/ PF, SS LRC
ASM - 10man - 2 meltas - PW - melta bombs
Tact Squad - 10man - Flamer - Heavy Bolter Sgt w/ combi melta, PW - Drop POd
Death Company - 4man PW, PF
Predator - Autocannon, Lascannon
Stormraven - Assault Cannon, Bolters
Plan is to pun the death company with asteroth in the raven and the reclusiarch with the assault squad in the land raider. Drop pod enter near objective or something that needs to be taken out fast. Landraider with the reclus and priest push forward to near objective. Alternatively the priest can hang back with rear objective assault squad. When stormraven arrive it hauls butt to an objective and lets off its death company goodness. The jump pack assault squad either holds a rear objective or combat squads and tries to hold 2.
I am hoping to keep my opponent on there toes. I still have about 40 - 50 points left as well. Also rear assault squad could get rid of jump packs and get a razorback.
Any thoughts on this?

Give the tac squad in the drop pod either all flamer or all melta.
Oh wait. You don't need two HQs at 1850. Drop one and bring more dakka.
Give the SR MM for sure and maybe lascannon. I'm not a huge fan of the AC, really.

I suppose i can swap him with a chaplain. i really want the rerolls on everything but i can shave 30 points there and with the remaining bring something else or beef up the death company. there is a part of me that would love to drop a death company dredd and 5 death company marines out of the stormraven but i am scared it might get popped to quickly.

The Stormraven is a trap for the BA. Never use it to transport anything. Ever. You are reserving too much of your force and if it goes down, or shows up late, you lose. Straight up lose.

thats my fear with it. but the chance to get a small death company assaulting is so tempting.

Don't be tempted. It's not worth it. The DC in general aren't worth it; maybe in a LR. Maybe.

I would drop the death company, to over priced for what they do.
Your Pred is almost the only thing to take out tanks
Besides some melta guns but i feel its not enough.
I would get more anti tank in there and another Assault squad

There are basically two ways of bringing DC. Either in a LR (which is IMO too expencive) or 10 in a drop pod armed with bolters and maybe two PF. I some times use the later option to drop down next to enemy devastators or similar back field heavy firepower and rapidfire them, then lose atound half my DC squad to returning fire, then if the opponent doesn't engage the DC (which would be a smart move) i rapidfire again and engage the shooty unit so that they can't kill my scoring units. Either way DC should be only used as a distraction and not fully kitted out. Keep them as cheap as possible as they don't usually earn their points back, if there are too many upgrades. Just forget the stormraven. I have tried it out a few times and allways regretted it.

I find the best way to deal with drop pod DC is to just shoot back and assault them. Bolter DC are particularly impotent when assaulted.

Maybe i should swap out the dc with a 10man dev squad with 2 ML and 2 Plasma.
Another option maybe would be to get 2 or 3 assault bikes in there. I always wanted to paint them up and i can magnetize the side cars so i can play with that arrangement.
The only issue is that i am struggling with fluff stuff vs winning stuff. I love the idea of the death company and all the fun stuff that goes with them but I do want to win sometimes. Automatically Appended Next Post: What do you think about adding a space marine ally to my blood angels. Maybe remove the death company, tact squad and reclusiarch/chaplain and get a vanilla librarian ( or captain), a tact squad with flamers in a drop pod and a storm talon. Maybe a thunder cannon
I always want ed to paint imperial fists.

I disagree with most of my BA bro's here...
While Stormravens always work better in pairs or in triplicate (My tournament army at 1850 has 3 Ravens - I've never lost using that list) a single raven is still viable. As such, I make the following suggestions predicated on your desire to run DC.
1. Keep the Raven. You need some anti-flyer in this list which the raven will provide. God forbid you run into a heldrake with this list if you don't have the Raven.
1.5. Put hurricane bolters on it. You'll never regret it.
2. I would also get rid of the Reclusiarch - Not really doing too much in this list. Go Libby with unleash rage/shield. The UR does essentially the same amount of re-roll fun and the shield will allow a bit of coverage for that raider which be be getting rolled with anti-tank fire.
3. Get rid of the predator and put in that Dev squad you mentioned. More versatility and can't be killed in a single shot from a frisky laz cannon.
4. If you want to DP the tac squad, go all melta. You need the anti tank in the list and the bolters do horde control just fine.
Keep the faith in the Raven man. BA has the best flier in the game in my opinion and no list is complete without it. If at all possible, try to go second so the Bird has a better chance of getting the drop on opposing fliers and when possible keep it within 6 inches of your libby with shield. It works like a jink without the drama - and don't forget the wings count as part of the hull for being within 6".

Thanks. I think i will try the list both ways. But i have the feeling the extra DC might now be worth it. Either way it should be fun and i have some death company that i painted up pretty nice so at least i get to use them.
