I play a guard blob list two platoon squads. A leman Russ A bassilisk two heavy weapon platoons lascannon and heavy bolters. Im playing a 900-1000 tournement against a mech guard first round two leman russ one demolisher a battle cannon one. two squads of guardsmen in chimera and a company command squad chimera. How do i build my blobs how do i bring my russ I can bring a valk instead of bassilisk. I just am not sure how to beat him.

Anyway, unless you are playing a KP game, I would advise AGAINST blobbing up versus another IG player.

Against this list you probably want to bring your flyer. Run it as a Vendetta, MUCH more useful than a Valkyrie if he is mech heavy player. 3x TL Lascannons should be able to bring down one Russ on T2, and another on T3 if you maneuver correctly.

The secret to beating mech (and this has never changed) is just destroying the transports. Odds are, if he is mech'd up, then he plans on coming to you. Find decent cover (he doesn't have any barrage weapons to ignore this) and plink away with your lascannons. To make sure that you lascannons aren't alpha'd on turn one, hide them inside PIS or Vet squads. It is rarely advisable to bring HWT, especially against someone like guard who are going to be dropping Instant death inducing large blasts on them.
