Ok so im making the transition from Warhammer to Warmachine, i have no models yet but decided i am going with Khador.

FEEDBACK PLEASE! im anxious to go out and buy some models to start painting.

Ive done some research, have no games under my belt but am looking to make a list that is a mobile shooting army/ melee beast...a solid hybrid of the two as I advance slowly with jacks etc..I have so many list ideas but Here is one of my list ideas for 35 point games.

The Butcher of Khardov
Beast-09
Juggernaut
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard
2 Winter Guard Infantry Rocketeers
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich
Man-o-war Drakhun (with dismount)
Manhunter

Hows that look? the idea is butcher and jacks slug forward with a screen of winterguard (providing coverfire), widowmakers (providing cover fire), and Man-o-War Drakhun and the manhunter providing some flanking options as well as Drakhun's aggressive play and durability as a distraction while the rest of my army moves forward.

Here is another list but more melee oriented. Feedback much appreciated.

I want to go out and buy some models but want to make sure i know what models to get.. as my Warhammer army i played Tyranids and regretted that choice after spending over 300 bucks :/

for both lists should i be concerned about my flank/not having a real "bodyguard" unit for my warcaster?

Kommandant Irusk
Destroyer
Destroyer
War dog
Iron Fang Pikemen (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard
Man-o-war Demolition Corps (Leader and 4 Grunts)
Man-o-war Kovnik

pIrusk needs lots of bodies to really make his feat hit home. Man-O-Wars are just slow. Sadly cuz the models are awesome.

pButcher is my abosloute favorite to play in casual games I love the model and his feat rocks. For his list I would dump the Juggernought and go with a berserker. He needs his focus for things like IF

for the first list what about the same list but with Sorsha? i believe i lose 1 point towards jacks so id have to rework some things but in general would that be a fairly competitive list? i play for fun, but i also play to win so while i want to make a fun list, i try to balance... cool models/fun to play/competitive army.

Your list are competitive, you'll have a bit if a hard time with Cryx, but heck who dosnt. pSorcia is always great. The reason I suggest dumping the Jug is that it's kinda the same thing as Beast but without reach. And for 8pt it's kit filling a role of its own. You can go with a kodiak for the same points and it has pathfinder and is more self sufficient, or a Berserker for less points and really take advantage of not having to feed it focus unless you run it into a hunch of infantry and make it go boom.

I generally try to steer people away from 35pt "start up" lists, as its very much jumping in at the deep end. Id personally recommend sticking with the battlebox for your first half a dozen or dozen games before pushing up to 25pts and taking your time there. jumping straight in at 35 can, and has overwhelmed many a gamer unused to the system. its generally best to build up to it.

your Butcher 35pointer is fairly standard and straightforward - i cant really criticize or complain. Bar the fact it feels a bit "cookie cutter". Kovnik Joe and the boys, widowmakers, beast etc. Personally, i've never been impressed with Beast09, and much prefer riflemen to the WG infantry, but hey, its still a good solid list there.

your irusk list needs less jacks and more infantry. Irusk has Superiority. Slap that on something like the behemoth, torch, or Black ivan and you have some seriously nasty tricks available to you. Pikeys are always solid though, and with regard to MoW, although im a big fan of heavy infantry, especially at 50pts, i find that epic Irusk, with his tactical supremacy spell, offers far more to, and gets more out of Men o War than prime irusk. That said, Irusk loves his infantry and you cant go wrong with any of them. the WG deathstar, kayazy, riflemen, pikeys, nyss hunters - he makes them all shine.

I'll second starting with the battlebox. 35 points is a fair investment $$$wise. Especially if you may not jive with the playstyle that fits those models.

I'd get the battlebox, a unit of Winterguard, and Kovnik Joe as a starter. It gets you a nice mix of stuff that has plenty of synergy with each other, and its a solid foundation.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

That and a unit of widow makers is a great start

Great thanks for all the feedback. I do plan on starting at the 15 point mark, however i want to be building towards the 35 point mark with minimal wasted units put in a box and never seen again also save myself the extra $$.

As far as warjacks i love the sound of beast as people will want to take him down and if they dont they are only bringing him closer to them making it a mind f*** for their targeting...at least in theory, havent played yet but seems to be the function to me.

I really love the Destroyer model as well, but without the right warcaster does he just miss a bunch and is really only a luck factor unit? I prefer reliability over chance.---with that said other than WG what else is good for the tarpit? ..warjacks are just too cool and i want to run at least 2 in my army. maybe Beast + Destroyer?? if so what combos are out there that work well with those two,or Beast + Kodiak?? with 2 jacks in mind minimum any suggestions would be great.

Here is another list. Idea would be first wave WG second wave IFP along with Butcher and his 2 warjacks taking the rear. Manhunter there to offer some faster threat and flanking options.

The Butcher of Khardov
Beast
Kodiak
Iron Fang Pikemen (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich
Manhunter

Let me know what you think. am i on the right track to making a good army? so many good choices its hard to choose. rather than the kodiak replace it with a Spriggan? if so id have to drop the manhunter or iunno...with any of the lists ive provide if anyone can put up a list they would make out of any of the models ive chose or other ones that i may be overlooking. (keep in mind my desired warcasters are pShorsha, pButcher, Strakhov, or Harkevich)

What im trying to accomplish is more of a traditional tactics army with good melee that hits hard mid-late game and fair advancement while recieving support fire OR faster models applying pressure being able to use them on turn 2ish trimming down the lines or distracting the opponent while i advance. a balanced list.
