My apologies for not posting anything new for a few days. The stress and prolonged lack of sleep finally got to me. I guess that painting for 16-19 hours a day 7 days a week can somehow have adverse effects. Who would have thought that?

These guys were a blast! I think it was one of my favorite colors to paint, despite its simplicity...

Paints look great, however Luna Wolves would be wearing White/Black, they didn't switch to the sea-green until Sons of Horus.

They look brilliant.

Frecklesonfire < Black/Greyish-White was the first scheme and was worn by the 'loyalists' during their final days.

Those who turned with Horus and became a part of the Sons of Horus wore the sea green, this transition starts slowly at first only some wore it until eventually everyone wore it.

The black and gold only came into play after Horus's defeat and Abaddon seized control, although at this point I'd have stopped referring to them as the 'Sons of Horus' and instead called them the 'Black Legion'.

I may be wrong but thats how I saw it.

Anyways as mentioned keep up the stellar work mate.

On the cover of Horus Rising the Marines shoulder guard also has the XIV marking on it which is the Death Guard so I wouldn't read too much into that picture. The Luna Wolves were definately whitish with black trim and went Sea Green when they became the Sons of Horus.

EDIT: On topic though that is an exceptional paintjob - great work

Lunar Wolves are white with black bits.... they rename themselves in Horus's honor and become the sons of Horus which is the colour you see here and then finally black legion when all the shizz goes down...

Great paintjob mate, easily the best Sons Of Horus I've seen - and yeah the colour scheme is Sons Of Horus, not Luna Wolves - but that easily fixed - you can just add the eye of Horus symbol around - Once again - Amazing

Sons of Horus then turn to sea-green/grey - they even comment in the HH books about how strange it feels to be wearing the new colour...

I remember reading somewhere that Black Library admitted those two covers went on the wrong way around, chronologically. The other posters are correct (Luna Wolves = white, Sons = sea green).

I dont know if anyone who is in the discussion about the colors has noticed but the chains sword has a sons eye.

EDIT: Oh and a sons eye shoulder pad. THE PLOT THICKENS!

It's true... the colors are sons of horus, not luna wolves... but, you could always say they are Istvaan 3 loyalists who repainted the Luna Wolves icon on their armor, rejecting Horus for betraying the imperium... There is room to fit this in fluffily -

The primary color was a Panzer Aces from Vallejo that I have not been able to find. The label is kind of wiped away, but I will see if I can discern some of it!

Mine is Panzer Aces USMC Tank Crew mixed with some GW Astronomican Grey (I can't remember the new name) about 50/50.

I believe you can find the index astartes article online. They were a very pale grey as the lunar wolves after ullanor the name and color changed occurred (sons of Horus, sea green)

Seeing as I'm doing a Luna Wolves army I'll let you know...

- Troops and Devs are a off white (perl white) and black.
- Terms and Assault are black and gold.
- Drop pods are black.
- Tanks are like the troops....

But never mide that... NICE Painting

No, not this. The Emperor firsts suggest to Horus that his Legion should be renamed at Ullanor. He does not change the name/color scheme until after his fall at Davin. While it does happen all at once as a Legion it does have something to do with the fall to Chaos. Only it is Horus' fall that coincides not the Legion as a whole.

*edit, I forgot to add. I love the paint! Such fantastic work, I am impressed by anyone who can paint pre-heresy Sons of Horus without it looking ugly! Kudos.
