1850 Pts - Imperial Guard Roster

HQ: Lord Commissar; Refractor Field; Melta Bombs; Power Axe

Platoon Command Squad; Flamer x2
4 Infantry Squads, 1 with a Commissar; all have Meltagun; Lascannon

Heavy Support: Colossus
Heavy Support: Colossus
Heavy Support: Manticore Rocket Launcher

The Lord Commissar rides with the Ogryn and act as my stop gap unit.
The Platoon HQ's ride in the Vendettas and score if possible.

Should the infantry blobs have embedded Commissars or is being stubborn too much of a liability?

Interesting list, which I'd like to see how it went. Have you had much experience/success fielding the ogryns?

One comment I'd like to make is, are the meltagun's in the infantry squads going to be utilized much of the game? I mean I've fielded them before and they just kinda sat their flaccidly, unused due to their measly 12" range. On the flipside though, anything that gets in that range is gonna die a horrible horrible death.

I like the list what utility does the commissar give over a ccs? Why are you not putting the colossus together for multiple bombardment? Also consider power fists in your infantry blobs. This has saved my Bacon a lot in the past.

IS comissars and sergeants can't have power fists
the comissar in the command squads can though ! Useless I know
You might want to give power axes to most of the sergeants/comissar though if you blob' em

"One guardsmen can replace his lasgun with....
- Meltagun"

How come they all have meltas? Or was that just you're way to say every squad includes melta? Sorry if I misunderstood.

I've tried the melta gun in each squad before and its created some pretty hilarious moments. I would string out the squad, leaving the lascannon sitting, while the meltagunner would be up front. Made for semi decent deterrent for armor. Also made the opponent sweat during overwatch!

In the end I found that for the amount of points invested though, they were either killed before doing anything, or were out of range to be useful. Maybe trim the melta guns and add power weapons to the sergeants?

As for the Colossus, if you have the slots open, I would keep them separated (Unless your playing Big Guns Never Tire).

What do you think about going the Armored Infantry approach?

1850 Pts - Imperial Guard Roster

HQ: Company Command Squad; Meltagun x2; Officer of the Fleet; Chimera

Troops: Infantry Platoon
Platoon Command Squad; Meltagun x4; Chimera
3 Infantry Squads; Flamer; Chimera

Troops: Infantry Platoon
Platoon Command Squad; Meltagun x4; Chimera
2 Infantry Squads; Flamer; Chimera

Fast Attack: 3 Hellhounds each as a separate squadron; Inferno Cannon; Multi-melta

Heavy Support: Manticore
Heavy Support: 2 Griffons
Heavy Support: 2 Griffons

This way I have everything mounted to protect against demons for example and Banners of Devestation.

I also have everything on the table turn one firing and the OotF helps against reserve armies.

I like the ogryns. Too bad you can't squeeze outthevpoints and use yarrick instead. Arrick and ogryns work well on the charge
