Hey Dakka! It's been quite a while since I've been on here, but 40k is starting to flare up at my school and I'd like to jump into the fray.

I still need to learn the new 6th ed rules, as I've never played them before and have only had a cursory glance over the rulebook. That being said, my Chaos army has lost its luster over the years (in my eyes) and I do have a small Tyranid force, but I'm feeling the same about them and am trying to sell them to a friend. I'd like an army that is not exceedingly expensive to start and is good at shooting. I would like to stay away from power armor. We have three Tau players and one IG player at the moment, with an Ork player on the way. Power level/tier list does not mean anything to me. I am disinterested in Eldar and Necrons. We are currently all playing in the 1,250 point region, give or take another 250 points occasionally. I want to absolutely fall in love with another army, but I can't find the inspiration on my own. Close combat will not be my focus (been there, done that), however it never hurts to have a strong squad or two in my army. Is there any chance that you can help this poor man out?

Cheers!

Very similar thread just down a few posts - so I'll give you the same response:

Though originally broadcast for 5th Ed these are still relevant. Might I recommend:

Try daemons.

Flamers let you shoot to your hearts content.
Screamers can fly over your enemy and tear them to shreds.
Fateweaver can fly overhead laughing the entire time.
