Hello Dakka! I figured I should post an intro before I start blathering on the forum.

I'm very much a long term lover of 40k, and tabletop gaming in general, but I've been out of serious collecting for about a decade now since I moved from the UK to Australia and had to leave my collection behind. Recently I've started reading the various 40k novels, especially the Horus Heresy series, and it's really got me back into the universe, so I've decided to make a serious crack at collecting, painting... and maybe even playing a new army.

Since I'm a terrible carebear in all the video games I play, and because I saw LBursley's awesome video on how to paint them, I've decided to go with a Salamanders army. I'm a big fan of the serpent/reptile motif, and really like the background of the Chapter as Marines who actually give a genuine damn about the people they fight for.

Seeing that thread also inspired me to actually make an account here, as the community seems great!

Outside of 40k, I'm hugely into Roleplaying in general.. something that colours my behavior in every game I play, be it 40k, World of Warcraft or even Battlefield 3. I pick a role and stick to it, and as the biggest gamer in a family of gamer's my role is normally the guy taking all the damage and supporting everyone else.

Outside of gaming in general, I'm a pommy down under, I work for a major ISP in their Tech Support/Customer Service call center, and spend my free time gaming beside my wife and stepson, cooking, and trying to avoid being eaten by 4 bottomless, evil, heartless creatures (cats).

At the moment I'm not even really making a list, I have a battleforce laying around and I'm going to practice painting and see what happens.

Good idea, when first getting into the hobby you don't really want to muck about with lists as you don't really know exactly what everything does too well. Just get the models that you like, play around with them and see what you enjoy.
