On moon miranda.

So, trying to make a daemon-engine walker force for Iron Warriors work here. Unfortunately in 6th such units are punitively fragile methinks, but we'll try and make a go of it here for the thematic factor and see how well we can make it work. I've been playing with variations on some of this for a bit, it worked well enough to eke out wins against a couple of Space Marine armies, *very* well against an Eldar army, and was predictably annihilated by a gunline 9 Broadside Tau force, so lets see what people think of this iteration

That all *should* come out to 1848pts.

So we've got 30 marines including the Lord, 8 vehicles, 2 of them AV11 transports and 6 of them AV12 combat walkers of various sorts. 20 S8 36" shots each turn, a couple mutli-meltas, what effectively amounts to three autocannons, some flamers, a ton of boltguns, and a slew of walker Powerfists. I wish I could have fit in a Warpsmith, but they just get way too expensive once you give them any sort of gear, especially for only a W2 model.

Thoughts?

Also, preferences on the CSM squad powerweapons? I'm debating between Power Mauls (S6 is handy) or Power Axe's.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I like it. My thoughts;

Give the Khorne lord the Axe of Blind Fury (mandatory)
Give both Helbrutes heavy flamers

I would drop models & autocannon from the third CSM squad to make the above happen.

Personally, I would also drop the Decimator for another Helbrute or Obliterator, to get a blob of Cultists. Unless you are beant on using the Decimator model (it is a cool model).

A small, damp hole somewhere in England

I like this list a lot - the idea of posing multiple threats to the enemy is a good one. I've run similar myself, albeit on a smaller scale (2 dreads, a vindicator, a defiler and other vehicles).

One thing to think about is the speed of your assault - currently your Maulerfiend is almost certain to get killed first, as your opponents will recognise it as the greatest threat. slowing your assault. the only other things going as fast are your rhinos - this will also single them out as threats, potentially leaving you without mobile troops.

Another possibility to think about for future lists is to include heavy troops that back up your vehicles - terminators and obliterators are ideal for this. Both move alongside your walkers and at the same speed, and need heavy firepower to take down. Even if your vehicles don't reach the enemy, chances are they've taken all the firepower so your termies will!
