I bought the battlebox for Menoth and I want to add to it for my Slow Grow league but don't know what to add. Any suggestions?

What are the points levels and model restrictions you're facing as well as what if anything you can swap out from your original battle group.

Regardless typically the first things you want to add after moving out from a Battlebox in menoth is the Choir & a Vassal. The rest is going to depend on the question above.

It's 25 Pts but you still have to use all of the models from the battlebox.

I'd probably add +Min Choir, +Vassal, +Max Errants & UA.

This will vastly improve your 'Jacks and give you a versatile unit that shines /w DW & at low points levels. Remember that on Kreoss feat turn knocked down things don't engage your models so the errants can always get off quick work. That damn revenger is such an albatross.

The Current Choir box comes with all the models needed. The Current Errants box has a full set of 10, and you'd have to buy the UA. In other words "1 of each"

Errants: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/discountgamesinc/the-1037/Knights-Exemplar-Errants-Unit/Detail
Errant UA: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/discountgamesinc/the-404/Exemplar-Errant-Officer-%26/Detail
Choir: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/discountgamesinc/the-456/Choir-of-Menoth-Unit/Detail

NOTE: The Current errant models are a bit smaller than the UA models, as they're plastic re sculpts and the UA matches the older metal models. It's minor but drives some people batty. If you think this would bother you, you can still find the old metal errants floating around but you might pay a few bucks more for them.

The Choir is a must-have for menoth, and will be a staple in almost any live so they're a definite pick up.

The Errants are defiantly a rock-solid unit but really only shine with casters that can up their speed, defensive stats or both. pKreoss (the dude you got in the battle box), pSeverius, Harbinger, Vindictus. Granted this includes 3/5 of Menoth's top casters so you'll get a lot of mileage out of them. However you're looking for something you may get a bit more universal use out of there are other options. I do think the errants are probably the strongest choice at this points level though.

Yeah the revenger does more harm than good. Doesn't really contribute, and they never bother with it and just go after the Crusader.

The Revenger is over costed for what it does, especially with pKreoss. However, if your opponents are not respecting it, it can cost them dearly. Especially if you're up against other new players. With the Choir Buff (+2 to hit, and +2 to damage) along with the bonus it has for the "Powerful Charge" (+2 to hit) you're looking at +10 on your to-hit roll on the charge. 6 MAT +2 Choir + 2 Powerful Charge. With a boosted to-hit roll this nails DEF values as high as 17 more than 90% of the time. It's not the speediest thing in the world (nothing in protectorate is) but it's as good as you're going to get in the faction at SPD 5 & reach.

It'll never be an all-star but you can defiantly teach other new player a thing or two about not ignoring any of your pieces with that little guy.

Honestly. pKreoss is solid. He's got a great tool box that lets you play all kinds of ways and his feat is a kick in the face to your opponent. Truth be told he's probably one of our best casters when it comes to a combination of straightforward (good for new players) and powerful (good for everyone). You can truck along with this guy as your only caster for months and not be worse for wear.

If you're *really* itching to try someone else out, I'd suggest pSeverius (Grand Scrutator Severius). He works with just about all of Protectorate's models and is probably the most "Protectorate"-y of all our warcasters. His versatility can really help you find your feet and Eye of Menoth goes a long in both propping up sub-optimal decisions and clinching good ones. He's squishy and you have to keep him safe, but that is largely a skill you need to learn anyway. He also has a nice beefy control range for pre-measuring. Despite all that he isn't very complex and you'll be able to leverage most of what he offers even as a newbie.

Awesome. I've got plenty of money to spend but am going to save where possible. What's a good addition when moving up to the 35 point level?

The Reckoner & Vanquisher are both solid, solid 'Jacks. You could pick up either one and add another vassal and be in a great place.

Honestly if you forced me to pick, I'd probably say the Reckoner is the single best 'Jack in the whole game across all factions point-for-point. It's got a great gun with a long-ass threat range, gives out a DEF debuff and has the hitting power to pound most things into the ground. It's a awesome pickup if you just want a general addition or you've been struggling a bit with delivering your Crusader to hand out the beats. At SPD5 and Reach it's much faster, and it hits almost as hard. You could use it first wave and by the time it's done with, the Crusader should be shuffling on up.

The Vanquisher is an amazing addition if you're struggling with infantry. They just *have* to respect the gun. As it gets a single shot during it's activation, plus another one when the vassal makes it use ancillary attack (sadly you can't ancillary attack twice in one turn). The choir buff applies AFTER halving the pow on blast damage, so it hits everythin in the 4" AoE with a POW 9 and it sets them on fire. You can just sort of sweep infantry models off the table with the thing. Don't fall for the Thresher (*Attack)! It's a trap, use the gun. The thresher is only if they charge with a bunch of dudes and fail to kill it. It's not all star beater as it's as slow as the Crusader and at -2 POW, but it still gets the job done with the Choir buff in a pinch.

Those are probably your most straightforward options, but you have others. Too many in fact to go over in a simple post. See how the game opens up for you, that may change where you want to go. Keep in mind at this point you're kind of stretching what your choir can do at minimum size, as well as your casters focus. You're going to have to make judgement calls on where to allocate resources. If at any point you can ditch the Revenger do so.
