Ok so, the idea here is battling in waves, WGI first as tarpit and faster advancement followed by Shock Troopers as second wave/protecting flanks (or IFP let me know you opinion on which would be better choice for this job) followed by the Behemoth shooting during his slow advance and giving a counter charge to anything that engages my WG or ShockT. Widowmakers there for more cover fire and picking things off. id consider dropping widowmakers if it allows me to get other units (jacks) that provide better synergy with this idea.

Forward Kommander Sorscha (or pButcher)
Behemoth
Kodiak
Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 2 Grunts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich

Let me know what you think of this idea and if you think it would even work well. Im new to the game and all advice/tips are appreciated. Ideally i would like to run 2 warjacks as far as aesthetic purposes because Khador jacks are what made me so attracted to the army in the first place.

seems like i have a good balance of jacks to troops...again let me know what you think and if it looks like a good list.

Well, if you are brand new, then you should play around a dozen battlebox/15 point games before getting any higher in points value. So i'd say just go for the khador battlebox and a group of Widowmakers to start off with 15 points, but I'll talk about your current list and strategy for future combat.

Attacking in waves as you have explained isn't going to work well into your favor since it allows your opponent's whole army to gang up on your units and eat away at your army, no, flanking is a much better option since it puts pressure on 2+ sides of your opponent's army (now how you go about flanking is the tricky part, since counters can be made for this). Also, WGI isn't a unit a player wants to throw away easily. Yeah, they die easily, but that's inevitable, their blunderbusses (blunderbi?) can really put a hurt on the enemy when used wisely with the the combined ranged attack attribute, though I can't say the same for when they are in melee.

Shock troopers of IFP? hmmm. The shock troopers are better at taking out heavy infantry and warjacks, but not so much on infantry, plus, they are slower than your WGI, so they may have problems keeping up. The IFP, however, are a really solid, general-purpose unit, and can keep up with the WGI, however, they don't have fearless, and are a bit weaker than shock troopers. Both are as effective, but if you want the best of both worlds, pick up some demolition corp. , they can take out infantry and bigger, meaner stuff. More or less.

With Khador, you really shouldn't bring more than two 'jacks to the field, I don't have a problem with having a Kodiak and Behemoth, but keep in mind that the Behemoth's bombard's are much more likely to hit stationary models and massed infantry, since it only has a RAT of 4.

So you didn't go too bad with list-building for you first time, but remember, start iwth 15 points and build up slowly, ottherwise you will get overwhelmed pretty quickly, and games will be much slower than they sould be and hardly enjoyable. Believe me when I say this, the first few games iwth my friend weren't the best since we both jumped right into 25-point games. All's good now, though.

Have fun and crush all beneath your iron might!

With that said, I shall back away slowly and ominously and disappear in a puff of smoke, then smuggle some fruit across the border in order to stay competitive with the veggie cartel.

thanks for the advice, ya i get some of your points, esp with flanking. I realize everyone is saying start at 15 and i get it, however i have been playing warhammer for many years and am confident in picking up this game fairly quickly..this doesnt mean i wont be playing 15 point games to start off however i want to have an end game goal of a 35 point list so i can buy units accordingly as i build my way towards it when cash is available.

I have 1 other army idea and would love some advice/thoughts on its concept. which is...forward pressure with jacks+IFP. pressure behind forward lines with all the shots coming from jacks. widowmakers picking things apart softening up enemy front lines. manhunter offering me fast flanking options. basically pressure hitting them from every side.

Kommander Harkevich, the Iron Wolf
Behemoth
Destroyer
Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Iron Fang Pikemen (Leader and 9 Grunts)
Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Manhunter

the idea here is to be a mobile shooting platform while the IFP act as a durable tarpit to stall/do some upfront damage/pressure. Harkevich is making the Jacks much better shooters and more mobile. The widowmakers provide cover fire and just more reliable ranged dmg for picking things off. the manhunter provides the flanking pressure. and because so many points are being put into my jacks i took some mechanics to help the behemoth. while i would rather not take the mechanics it seems to me it is a necessary idea with this list...if they werent in there i could put in another manhunter and wardog or manhunter and yuri?

while i see how good the WGI is i just dont like seeing everyone lists out there having them, im not opposed to fielding them, but if i can id like to take the IFP as they just look badass and i like the idea of a guess a roman style of marching forward with shields up.
