Daring Dark Eldar Raider Rider
|
I haven't seen a list like this before. It's not my playstyle, so I'm not entirely sure how it will work.
A couple things that jump out at me.
I vastly prefer blasters to shredders. I never take a 5 man warrior squad without them. You never know when you are going to run up against a landraider.
I think your Trueborne are a bit overkill. I like to limit them to three special weapons each, and not mix and match weapon types within a vehicle. With Dark Eldar I think it's important to specially equip each slot with standard weaponry (blaster OR splinter cannon). Use your speed to move that unit where needed, don't equip the unit to handle both infantry and vehicles..
I almost never run Trueborne anymore. Lances on my Raiders, Lances on my Razorwing and Blasters in my 5 man warrior squads are usually sufficient. I'd rather use those points for more troops.
A haemonculi is fine to throw in with a unit in order to get FNP and make wracks troops...but they die really easily and Slay the Warlord is a common objective. Pick something with a Shadow FIeld (or at least a clone field). I prefer the Archon with Huskblade/Soul Trap, but with this many wracks you may want to try Urien.
Ravagers are somewhat situational and they die really easily. I'd drop one of them for a Razorwing. Give it a Flicker Field so that you don't have to Evade if someone hits it.
If it was me, I wouldn't waste any points on Night Shields. Your range is 36" on a lot of your cannons and lances. 6" reduction isn't going to help that much. You should be staying out of the range of bolter fire, and Missile Launchers/Lascannons aren't going to be affected. If you play armies with a lot of 36" range weapons, that might be different.
8 Incubi is a lot of points. I'd run 5 of them. If you take my advice and add an Archon, pair him with the Incubi so that they get the benefit of his grenades.
I still like Wyches. They tend to scare people a lot. My army usually has at least two units of eight (with an Agonizer Hekatrix) in Raiders with a Haemonculi. If this were my list, I'd make that switch in your Wrack Raiders.
It's not my list though. If Wracks work for you, go for it.

I think the list is pretty solid. A couple things I would change is drop the ns off all the transports except the venom with the 3 wracks in it, because all of the other units have to get at least 18 inches or closer from the target to be effective and by then the ns wont do you any good. Next I would give the warrior squads a blaster, shredders are just kinda meh, especially when compared to a blaster. Also its not a very good idea to mix darklight and poison weapons together like with the trueborn squad cause then if you have to shoot a vehicle half your unit will just be standing there doing nothing, so I would drop a guy off both squads and then give them all blasters. Other than that though the list looks pretty good, best of luck!

I like the theme, and think that a coven heavy mech army can do some damage. The hamey is fine for what you are going for. A liquifier is always nice if you can find the points(but the SS is decent too) and a scissorhand is a much better CCW than the venom blade, but the blade is fantastic for the cost. 8 Incubi and a klaivex is pretty nasty, but don't assault anything in cover. If you need to, throw the wracks in first, then the incubi to clean up. If you are taking a klaivex, I would get onslaught to make your incubi really hurt, but otherwise you could just spend the points elsewhere. Give your wrack raiders aethersails(drop the GT's from the venoms to do this) so they can rush up alongside the incubi raider. Also, give your acothysts a toy. A venom blade or stinger pistol are two of the best choices, and the two cheapest choices. You already have 2 CCw's, so you will still get the bonus attacks! If you are exploiting wracks, I would go 5 wrack squads+liquifier in the venom over kabbies. They don't shoot as well from distance, but they can survive if the venom explodes and work up close. If not, do go blasters as said above. As mentioned, Nightshields are only critical on venoms playing the distance game and ravagers. Everything else is getting too close to care. Also mentioned is specializing your trueborn. Right now, you are throwing too many points into making them too good. Either go 3-4 blasters, or 2 cannons and 1 chump. The rest is wasted points.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I would drop the SC toting trueborn (alot of points wasted if they are shooting at vehicles and they still die just as fast once out of their transports). I would drop 1 wrack and liquifier from 1 squad to make room for the Haemie, that unit gets ALOT meaner on the charge with 2 pain tokens. Also, with some many splinter cannons in the army, I feel like the Incubi are a bit reduntant, especially such a large unit. I think taking another blaster-born unit in their place (in venom) and use all the points saved so far to get a largish beast pack (3 beast masters, 4-5 khymarae, and 4 razor wings) who can both finish off units AND take on most vehicles.
