Hey, also sort of new to Empire. From what I have seen, lots of people dont take Celestial Hurricanims and War Altars and such. Though amongst all of them when taken, the War Altar is most used. But I suppose at this high point army, they are put into good use.

Also I would suggest putting Warrior Priests and Commanders in with units, as they give some very good and useful buffs.

That statement is, for lack of a better word, wrong.

Hurricanums are brilliant. Not for their bound spell but for the +1 to hit. That means that unless your opponent is WS7 or higher, your army will be hitting on 3's. Combine that with the increasingly popular lore choice of light, your chosen unit will be hitting on 2's.

Now. Onto the list.

The War Altar build is nice, but you want the Armour of Meteoric Iron on your BSB. I would recommend Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield and the dawnstone on the Lector as that gives him a 2+ rerollable armour.

As for the wizard, he needs lore of light to buff your halberdiers and greatswords. Also, give him the earthing rod.

The halberds are perfect. The knights work with the demis.

Which brings me onto them. Why 6. They are far too unwieldy like that. Drop one. 5 is the max unit size because of the size of 5 in a line.

Those are the only changes I can see.

Oh well damn. Its odd that I have seen so many avoid those big centerpieces. But I have been curious as to why, considering how many buffs they can give. I have actually been curious about taking two units of 3-4 Demigryphs? To run the flanks and take out tougher units? And I see you clearly reccomend the larger blocks of halberders. Also something I was curious of.

Demis can work well on their own. My list features three units of 5, and the rest is handgunners.Demis can actually hold their own against most units. For magic, I have two level 4s. One on shadow/light, the other on metal. Large blocks of halberdiers are the best core option nowadays as the +1 strength actually impacts gameplay. And with the Hurricanum giving them the +1 to hit they are some of the best options for infantry in the book.

Yeah it certainly seems like it. I was debating on whether to fill up on halberders or not. The lists I were making were mostly haleberders and Demigryph based, with a Warrior Priest and Battle Wizard with Metal. But I suppose Light is better off. And I will be adding a Hurricanum.

The group of six demigryphs is pretty good because it gives them a rank and they can all make supporting attacks. The hurricanum is amazing. +1 to hit and an extra power die as well as the bound spell. The war altar is okay. I have also been swapping it with a general on a gryphon for mobility, but its iffy since the gryphon has no armour. I went 3-0 yesterday with the gryphon in the list after not having won with my tomb kings in 3 weeks lol.

I'd drop the Ring of Volans and think carefully about putting the AL on the War Altar. You could get another priest, mounted, and run him with the knights.

Agreed w/the Armor of Meteoric armor, unless the AL goes on foot.

I'm not a huge fan of the demigryphs b/c though they hit hard, the can't break anything on their own (enemy will be steadfast); you can get a lot more troops if you swapped them out. But, then again, if you're going for a theme or want to see how they run, go for it!

Have redone the list at the top.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

The BSB can't have the enchanted shield and the shield bonuses. So the armour provides a better armour save and a ward save.

Try the ruby ring of ruin on the withc hunter as he gives it sniper IIRC.

He basically already has a 6+ ward save with parry, so I'm paying 50 points for -1 to his armor save.. meh. lol

The enchanted shield doesn't give him parry as it is a magical shield and you use magical equipment you purchase over mundane.

He comes with a hand weapon which gives him a parry save, yes?

Belfast

also, fyi the demigryphs are too big at 6, I know you said you have them in a 3x2 formation for supporting attacks, but if you do that only the three riders get to support, the mounts dont. So you end up paying a lot for 3 extra swings. Far better (as said above) to run them in a line...

Page 85 – Monstrous Beasts.
Add “MONSTROUS SUPPORT
Furthermore, a monstrous beast can make as many supporting
attacks as are on its profile, up to a maximum of three.” to the
end of the paragraph.

It's in the Errata FAQ for the BRB. So, as some people at my shop read it, Demigryphs get all supporting attacks. I, however, am not so convinced, as they're
Monstrous Cavalry, not beasts.

If you take a magical shield, you use it OVER your normal shield. And you can't parry with magical shields.

Ah, yeah, I just found that in the BRB. Well, that is unfortunate!

"All the cavalry rules apply to monstrous cavalry"

Page 92 - Cavalry and supporting attacks
"When a cavalry model makes supporting attacks, only the rider can strike"

So your 3 demis in the back can't do any much good until the front rank got killed.

I also concur with the persons above that the meteoric armor does have it use e.g getting your BSB 1+ armor when he is walking. My personal preference to build him is on horse with the talisman of preservation to be a challenge monkey though.

Standard of steel on the IC and full command on the demis are redundant imo. You don't usually run your demis into combat that you doesn't already have a banner and the champ only have 1 extra str 3 atk. If you drop those useless points. you can easily get a walking warrior priest with heavy armor and shield to stick in the greatswords or halberdiers which will pay back greatly with the hatred rule

I edited and redid the list at the top for convenience. Yeah, that's what I read it as too, so I'll have to split them into two groups. I dropped the standard of steel as it's just too expensive. However, it's an additional Str 4 attack as Inner Circle and Demigryph knights are Str 4, or Str 6 on the charge so the champion seems worth it to me. The standard is, I'll admit, situational, but I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around. I do want to fit in a warrior priest somewhere. The logical choice, really, is to just shave the Witch Hunter, but I love the model/fluff/rules so much, lol. Right now the BSB is a 2+ armor save with a reroll and is Str 5.
