Hello dakka,

I'm not really much of a poster on here (preferring to wander through all the lovely models in the Gallery) but I've decided it was time to add on a bit of my own work.

I've been toying with the idea of zombies for a good while in 40k, and once the new Chaos codex arrived, I knew I had to get started. I decided that the best way to go about
making my lovely new undead horde was to sculpt them, as I loved the idea of having each one unique. I also wanted a more parasitic and 'growth' theme to run throughout
the army, as Nurgle isn't just about death, but life and rebirth too.

So at present I've managed to sculpt and paint around 50 individual zombies, plus a converted Typhus to fit into the 'over blessed' theme I'm going for. I have also finished 3 Nurgle
Terminators and 2 Nurgle Obliterators, and decided that my list needed a centrepiece of some description to finish this little gathering off.
What could suit a zombie army of nurgle better than a monstrous Daemon Prince flying over the horde?

So yeah, here it is, the start of my P&M Blog:

First up, My currently WIP Nurgle Prince. I took a lot of inspiration from the greater daemon model (because its awesome) but wanted to make sure it was still my own design. I'll be sure to add plenty of pics as I continue, and any suggestions/comments are welcome.

I originally started with a 60mm base and a load of scrunched up foil. Applied a generous amount of Milliput and began the sculpt. One of my Obliterators for scale too.

A close up of the stomach, or at least the start of it. (Sorry for the picture quality. Stuck using a potato)

A shot of the back. Had some trouble with the *ahem* 'rear' of the sculpt, but for a first try I was rather happy. Also added the spine.

Side shot of the stomach and the start of the 'legs'. I also added the first layer of the armour, which is 'sort of' visible around the upper torso.

Time for some nurglyness! I started work here on the intestines and general infected bits and pieces.

A shot of the shoulder plate, attached the the main armour via leather straps.

Added the first hand and some of the nasty bits from out of the gut/stomach.

Full body WIP shot. The wings seem a bit small at this point. O_o

And finally, updated the armour from a smudge to actual plates attached with leather straps. So far I'm rather happy with it. What do people think?

That's an awesome looking sculpt, you've got a nice level of detail going on. I really like the straps holding the armour together, they're a nice touch.

Thanks for the feedback!
I'm glad you like it - I'll be adding a few more piccys soon with some more little details too. Currently I'm working on the wings and blending them into the shoulders a little more, as well as adding some torn skin membrane for effect.

Just an update on the sculpting process. Its almost finished now, just need to add the face and the rest of the details.

Added the let arm and started work on the Black Mace, as well as starting to coat the wings in rotten flesh.

Underside of the wing with fleshy bits started.

Left arm with the mace. Considering this is my first scratch built arm sculpt of this size, I'm really happy with the muscle detail.

Full body shot so far.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Been working on the face at the moment. originally I was going to try and avoid the facial features by hiding it under a mask/helmet, but I think the overall outcome looks a lot better:

Sorry for the annoying quality. I'll try and get some better ones up tomorrow. This is the face so far though. Nurgly enough?

Side shot of the head WIP

Close up on the face. I really like the different eyes.

Left wing and right wing

And then a shot from behind.

What does dakka think so far?

Thanks! ^_^ I was worried I wouldn't make it nurgly enough when I started, but it seems to be coming along rather well

I've been working on the horns and neck areas today, so I'll try and get some pics up tonight to see what you think.

Well, I think I've about finished it. I may add some more little details, like chaos markings on the armour somewhere and a few more boils, but I'm toying with the idea of just painting it now.

So here we are, the 'finished' sculpt. unless anyone has any ideas to improve it?

The Black Mace and left arm:

Wow, its been forever since I've updated this blog, but here's a little more something for anyone who's interested

Fully painted Nurgle Daemon, with zombies for scale:

Also, I got some other bits together and sculpted a Blight Drone too:

Anyways, I hope you guys like them!

Love it. I love to see what other modelers/sculpters do with the blessings of Nurgle.

The Demon prince turned out nicely. I would love to see pics of the other stuff that you have made, including the figure (oblitorator) that appears in your first photo.

Thanks a lot, I'm really glad you like it ^_^

I've actually almost finished this army and am about ready to put it up for sale (storage issues and I need more space for other projects), so I'll try and get plenty more pictures up in the coming days, especially
now I've got my hands on a camera that isn't a potato.

Here are the completed Obliterators I've done. I decided to swap out the dark eldar weapons for some plastic tubing for a more 'cannon' feel, as opposed to getting them muddled up with mutilators so much:

Another update with some pics. This time, I thought I'd add my Nurgle Spawns:

wow. Tyranid, orc, loyalist and do i see a skaven bone ladder in there???

Thanks for the update pic of the oblits that you made. They look great. Clearly not mutilators with the guns stickin out everywhere.

No problem, thanks for showing interest!
And yeah, I pretty much dug around in my bits box, and tried to make the spawn as mutated as possible.
I think my favourite one is the first one posted - that Carnifex mouth worked wonders once I got the green stuff on it!
