I'm thinking about a spaced based miniature war game. I wanted to know what people thought.

So my questions are as follows what would you like to see as far as combat goes. How many ships would you like to field?

Would fighters / flyers be a part of the make up?

Would you like to see steam punk ships, energy ships, startrek like ships, battlefleet gothic type ships or mass effect style ships?

What scale would you like to see?

Faster then light travel, warp drive, folding space? what would make your ideal starship go?

How many weapons and upgrades would you like on a ship? Should they be exaggerated or tiny ? Would they be chemical or energy based?

Fleet based combat or Mother ship and fighters drones ect.

Races what would like to see?

Bulky armor like space marines or subtle ?

Do you think that trading, and diplomacy could fit into a miniature war game? i.e tokens, trading cards ect.

Dice format D20? Or D6.

Anyways let me know what you think.

I think you're coming at this from the wrong angle.

First YOU should decide what you want the scope, scale, era style, fluff, etc should be.

Then writeup some basic rules for platesting. Then ask for assistance.

Also, have you read and played enough of the existing space battle games Star Navy, Full Thrust, Firestorm Armada, etc, etc? If so, what do or don't you like about them and what you feel you could improve on? If not, go read and play at least 4 different starship games before putting up a thread like this.

It's admirable to want to please potential customers and find our their preferences, but until you've done your homework and sketched out at least the basics of YOUR VISION, there's really nothing to work with.

Some form of game already covers most of those things, whats gonna be your angle? I would like to see rules expanded to include more than a d6(fingers crossed for Warzone).

I'm getting on the Warzone train because of the fluff and artwork, it felt like such a different game, very Heavy Metal, which I love

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

I think a Steampunk spaceship game might be a nice thing to see.

You should definitly have fighters and other attack craft.

Maybe a 1:150th scale. Smaller scale than BFG. Maybe 10 ships per side at the most.

Have boarding actions and fighter attacks be more detailed.

More detail on the weapons and damage for the ships.

So a ship would have various hardpoints that could be damaged. A ship may have 3 banks of slugg cannons, a bank of plasma projectors, and a single turbolaster cannon on its broadside. Each weapon system could be damaged seperatly.

The system would have to be either 2D6 based or D20 based.

OP- I would like to see a SCI-FI meets D&D concept. Like old Gamma World.
