If you leave the cover off then it would be a good industrial chimney. You could easily use the spindle base for supporting all kinds of power generation or chemical process-ey gubbinz. Stick a vent on top of the spindle and there you go.
Another alternative might be some kind of comms array or energy projection tower. Or stick a turret up there and you have some kind of bas defence post.
If you keep the cover on tben you could add a rampart and have some kind of bunker or fortified hab-block.
