Does it seem like a wasted tactic and points to want to spam Ap 3 in a necron list.
If you deep strike a monolith and 2 groups of 4 destroyers onto an enemies flank and blast away you can kill and or cripple 2-3 units of infantry reliably on turn 2.
And at the same time give your enemy something to focus on while your groups of warriors advance unmolested.

This is one str 8 ap 3 large blast, and 16 str 5 ap3 preferred enemy shots in one surgical alpha strike. which thanks to orikan happens with fair certainty on turn 2.
Does anyone think its viable to count on a few elite deep strikers to turn the tides of battle or is this a pipe dream.

In short it's a "meh" approach. You are still vulnerable to TEQ which are common in 6th and abundant cover negates much of the usefulness of the AP3 anyway.

Now anti-MEQ is of course helpful due to the meta being 'spesh mrnes!" every other army. But necrons do it with high-strength weight of fire rather than low AP.

A great option is to CSM allies since they specialize in anti-marine work with units like the heldrake, blastmaster noise marines, and nasty CC units. If you want to stick with pure crons then destroyer lord wraiths, destruction crypteks, and deathmarks with despair crypteks.
