After reading through the DA Codex I really dug the story of the schism in the Dark Angels. With the DV boxed set I thought it would be cool to paint up the CSM figures as Fallen Dark Angels, twisted by their time in the Warp after the destruction of Caliban. Googling for the proper colours has led me to a myriad of differing opinions and images, though. Could someone point me in the right direction for the colour scheme the DA were sporting at that moment in the game's history?

A good place to check for markings and colorations is Lexicanum. You can find the link to the Dark Angels article below:

Basically, DA were painted black before the Heresy. Both their power armored and terminator armored troops were black, just like the Ravenwing are now (you could say that the Ravenwing are the ones who maintained the original colors). The chapter marking was still white and they would have a Roman numeral 1 (I) on their opposite shoulder to denote 1st Legion. Anything past that would be Chapter (regiment) markings, which I haven't seen much detail about.

Hope that helps.

Excellent, thanks for that link! It looks like I can basecoat them at the same time as the Ravenwing bikers and save some time. The images in the Lexicanum have given me some great ideas
