So on Saturday is a doubles tournament at the local store. We are expecting 40+ players!

The rules set is odd. Its random teams. Which change each round. You will be paired with a team mate with the same record as you both rounds after the first. (so a winner with a winner etc.)

My list seems very lacking on troops (obvious flaw) but I am expecting a team mate to have 2-3 troops also which in turn makes 5 troops in a 2000 points conjoined army which seems ok to me.

Here is what I through about playing. I am going for mass damage here.

Haemon + Liquifier and Venom Blade 65
5 warriors in venom with blaster, Night Shields and extra splinter 135
5 warriors in venom with blaster, Night Shields and extra splinter 135
FW Tantalus + shock prow and night shields 230
Razorwing + Flicker Fields 155
Ravager (3 disintegrators)
5 Grotesques with a liquifier gun (these ride with haemon in tantalus)

The animus vitae is pretty garbage, I would take a venom blade instead.

I can see the shock prow on the tantalus if you plan to make use of the blade vane attack thing. The night shields seem a bit out of place as you are planning on getting close. Give the wing a flickerfield instead.

Otherwise, looks good.

The Tantalus is best used in 1 of 2 ways.

Either use the 2x H6 weapons to turn anything into mince meat OR ram the brick as fast possible into anything you see. The AP2 bladevane it has is just *drool*

I can understand kitting it out to survive in both situations for a semi blind tournament though.

One game it may be better to shoot the snot out of the enemy; the next it will be better to ram it into their face.

I usually agree with Serling; but in this instance I reckon keep the shields. That said; you need a FF on the Razorwing. Also lances on the ravager would be a better investment.

Ok so there is the updated list.

I am 10 points over now that I added the flickerfields but I definietely see the reason you said to add them.

What should I drop for 10 points? The liquifier on the grotesques? I know its insane but I dont know what else to left go of.

I wanted the night shields on the tantalus because even though I will be right up in my opponenets face as was mentioned previously, it lets me avoid melta guns, as the 6 inches with 3 inch double pen not a major issue. It also allows me to turbo boost a unit and not get a ton of double tap bolters in my weak rear armor 10 since they would be 18 inches and only 6 for double tap.

I would drop the ns off the kabals venoms, the blaster is too short ranged to get any use out of it, but now that I think about it I would go with 3 man wrack squads in the venoms with ns instead of the kabals, since they are your only troops, it would be better to have ones that are a little tougher and can camp in the back the hole time out of range and shoot with the venoms, and then bale out last turn to grab the rear objective, cause otherwise the kabal squads will die really fast and you'll just have to hope your teammate brought enough troops to cover it.

Plus the wrack squads would be cheaper so you could even put shattershard missiles on the razorwing if you'd like.
