The silver seal grants Karl franz a 4+ward. Is this extended to deathclaw?

If a save is transferred to the monster it'll say so (see dragon armour), generally such items only protect the bearer.

That's a shame cos it makes deathclaw completely unusable as it has no save

Its been like this for a long time, and is one of the many many reasons Griffons suck.

Deathclaw does benefit from the MR (2 i believe?) But yeah, no ward, ergo, dies easily. Also note the war alter has a 4++ ward, it doesnt extend to the arch lector anymore...

exactly! empire griffons (judging by the model) - 4x the height of a man, ergo, its chest will be at least twice as high as a humans head. Which means that the easiest place for a human to "stick it" is in its nice, unprotected belly. Or the gonads.
ooh, angry griffon...

Griffons, especially now that the model actually has armor, should have some sort of armor save.

Won't help against cannons of course.

All monsters who cost less than 200 pts seem to be naked.
It's just a cheap thunderstomp.

All flying monsters, but not all monsters under 200 points. Hydras and HPA have regen saves.

The trick being that to get good value out of your griffon, or any other flying monster under 200 points, you have to use the mobility your flight grants you to good effect. Use it to get in the flanks, while hitting the unit from the front with a ranked unit. Use the monster and its rider to chalk up kills and swing combat resolution your way, while the ranked unit cancels the enemy's steadfast. The point being that if you get stuck in the front of the enemy unit, or combat grinds out over multiple turns then yeah, that Griffon is gonna die, but as a shock unit, the base attacks and thunderstomp can win a lot of combats.

Not saying it's a tournament option, but that's more to do with the risk of cannons. But in general the Griffon has its use and it's one that an armour save won't improve much.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

HPA isn't under 200 points.
