For a small Game of 750 with the IG to get into 6th ed play, I am thinking of using something different. Mostly IG on foot without fliers as those are barred. Oposition to be blue vs blue, ie IG vs IG or my IG vs orks. I don't know the opposing list right now...
So if I pick a list from beneath, which is favorable to try out 6th?
doesn't have to win, to die for him on his golden toilet is acceptable
I guess both players aren't firm on 6th so maybe something easy to keep the game going. Any advice welcome.

Considered:

a) Boots on the ground.

Company HQ
- standard, vox,
- chimera

Platoon HQ
- 2x flamer, 1x gl , comissar
- squad 1: melta, vox
- squad 2: melta , vox
- squad 3: plas
- squad 4: gl , ml, vox
( 3+4 possibly merged )
- HW support: 3x ml

Veterans:
- bastonne
- gl, fl
- squad of 10x, grenadiers

=> 749

Just HQ and 2x troop.

b) the platoon split

Company HQ
- standard, vox,
-chimera

Platoon HQ 1
- 2x fl, comissar
- squad 1: melta , vox, ml
- squad 2: melta , vox, ml

Platoon HQ 2
- plas, vox
- squad 1: gl, ml
- squad 2: gl, ml

Veterans:
- bastonne
- gl, fl
- squad of 10x, grenadiers

~750

As before but more Troops.

c) mix of units

Company HQ
- standard, vox,
-chimera

Platoon HQ 1
- 2x fl, comissar
- squad 1: melta , vox, ml
- squad 2: melta , vox, ml

Platoon HQ 2
- plas, vox
- squad 1: gl, ml
- squad 2: gl, ml

Sentinel / scout, autocannon

Basilisk

~750

Increased support.

I'd like to think its a good idea to start with just HQ+ 2x troop and maybe 1-2 vehicles. Wouldn't plan on too many upgrades right now.
The list is based on a group of identically painted models. Could throw a few other things in but should I ?

Willing to see my poor grunts slaughtered if it isn't to displeasing for my opponent. ( Cannonfodder...style )

I'd take list c) because it has a bit of everything, just to get used to 6th. Also, I think you will find the Chimera+Sentinel+Basilisk quite useful against Orks.

ALWAYS MARBO, IG Force Organisation requires you take 1 HQ, 2 Troops and MARBO. No Exceptions

@westiebestie:
I hope c) would be ok against IG too...

@Geared:

not so fond of these lists, I see. The problem is, the vets are kasrkin models and thats why they have what they have.
(To be precise plastic Cadians and a few metal kasrkin/specialists.)

Let me show you a changed list c):

Lord Comissar

Company HQ
- standard, vox,
- chimera

Platoon HQ 1
- 2x fl
- squad 1: pg, ml
- squad 2: ml

Platoon HQ 2
- 2x melta, vox
- squad 1: vox, gl, ml
- squad 2: vox, gl, ml

Sentinel / scout, autocannon

Basilisk

Company HQ and the LordC. to keep them focused, the platoon HQ to give their life for the emperor. Could work and I'll see how important the order system is.

Searching for models to use, run into 2 more boxes...

The Catachans are just so few, its hard to get them to 750.
If I tried ( and consequently overequipped them ) this may be their list:

Company HQ
- Straken, advisor ( arti. )
- Heavy flamer, flamer , standart, krakG

Platoon HQ
- vox, 3x snipers
- squad1: vox, pg, Ml, krak G.
- squad 2: vox, melta, HB, krak G.

Veterans ( cat. dev. )
- Harker
- heavy flamer, flamer, some shotguns

Sentinels:
- 3x scout, HF, camo netting

~750

They would need their home turf .... and are severly low on headcount. ( 40 inf + 3 walker )

Remembered the old metal figs too. So a pure infantry platoon isn't expensive. But effective?

Platoon HQ
- vox, standart
- squad 1: vox, Ml
- squad 2: vox, Ml
- squad 3: vox HB
- squad 4: vox, HB
- squad 5: vox , pg
- support 1: 3x las cannon
- support 2: 3x auto cannon
- support 3: 3x mortar
- specialists: melta , fl , gl

~ 700

Sure just 1 troop. Should use that almost full platoon someday in a greater army.

Think I'll offer an updated list c of the Cadians to play and maybe the catachans as an option.
Double weapon platoon HQ a good idea? Are platoon HQ meant to live or an acceptable sacrifice?

Option C, as you originally wrote it, is by far the strongest list.

Take away the standard (which I'm not sure you can use in a chimera anyways, and bring the commissar out of the PCS and put it in a PIS, and you can then drop all the voxes as well (the commissars make the squad pass orders better.

Rewrite it just a little bit, and you can have.

Company HQ - lascannon

PCSW - 3x grenade launchers
- squad 1: commissar, melta, lascannon
- squad 2: melta , lascannon

PCS - 2x plasmagun
- squad 1: flamer, lascannon
- squad 2: flamer, lascannon

Sentinel / scout, autocannon

Basilisk

Which is practically the same list, but with better killing power.

Now, if you really wanted to juice the list, you could have it more like...

Lord commissar - power weapon

PCS - lascannon
PIS - lascannon, meltagun
PIS - lascannon, meltagun

PCS - lascannon
PIS - lascannon, meltagun
PIS - lascannon, meltagun

Basilisk
Basilisk

Same basic setup with even more killing power in the infantry, and an entire extra basilisk.
