So here's my dreadnought for my Salamanders army. He's had a rather poor track record in this edition, so he might get benched, but I'm really pleased with the turnout on his legs, as well as the base. The converted heavy flamer came out pretty good, too.

What are the plants around the dreads feet made of? They look rather feathery.

Thank you.

Barbs from a fake feather. They sell them at Hobby Lobby. Clumped up like static grass and then glued into a hole in the base, they were supposed to look like ferns. Do you like them?

Have you considered a wash to add some shading?

Hrmm...I've already gloss-coated it, then matte-varnished it. I don't think I can do a wash at this point, can I?

You can paint, wash, whatever you want over a coat of varnish. My typical painting process involves multiple coats of various varnishes over several layers. You'll be fine.

I did not know that. I'll have to give it a shot at some juncture. Since Vico is probably going to get benched (save for one game, he's had poor performance in this edition so far) I may use him as the test model for it.

Lol, a comedy routine or somesuch, I gather? I named him after a volcano. (A volcano with a short enough name to write on his leg banner!)
