There isn't much Tau can do against a Tervigon in the heat. I do agree that Eldrad is far more effective overall. He has a lot more utility than Fuegan (whose role in the list is primarily anti-flyer) and can shutdown psyker heavy armies like the Nids.

Tau + Eldrad in general is a good combo, but there's better combos that would shutdown Nids. Enfeeble SM + Tau (risky) and Dark Angels Ravenwing Grenade Launchers + Tau will do the trick. Of course, there's Tau + SW for the much hated Jaws.

Excellent report once again Reece with a pretty dominating performance against a well rounded list! I would have to agree with the general concensus that Eldrad would have been a better performer than Fuegan not just because youre playing Nids but because I think against most armies he would be better. Thanks on both counts! And yeah, I agree, Eldrad would be all around better. Although in the next game Israel played against GK/IG, Fuegan was a BEAST. Killed all the IG behind the Aegis (ignoring cover) and dropped the Storm Raven in one shot. Brutal.

I agree with the above about Eldrad. Might be the best force multiplying character in the game.
I play a Tau/Eldar player regularly, and man, Eldrad is what makes his army work.

I agree. I think you can make a really strong argument for Eldrad being the best character in the game. He would still be amazing at 250pts, at 210 he's a steal.
