I'm looking to build a CSM force and need to find several combi meltas and combi plasmas. Imperial or Chaos does not matter, I can customize them.

a) If I don't want to build them myself from bolters, what is the cheapest way of buying them?
b) if I build them from bolters, what is the cheapest way of finding meltaguns/pistols to take the barrels from? I have plenty of plasma pistols in my bitz box, so melta would be the issue.

The CSM termie kit comes with Combi-flamers & meltas, cant remember if its more than one though. CSM Lord kit also at least has a combi-melta. Loyalist marines don't get much of a better choice, only places i can think where you get any are the Captain & Sternguard boxes. Obviously i wouldn't consider this a cost-effective way of outfitting an entire squad, you will be alot cheaper and quicker just making them yourself - personally i just bought these, and coverted them with spare bolters.

GW also do a Sternguard pack with combi-weapons (although i would certainly hope the kit looks better than the one shown on their site)

I would also imagine you will have various bitz seller/3rd party options that might work out cheaper - i have no experience with these so i'll leave it to someone else to chime in.

It's not easy to find "cheap" combi-weapons individually tbh.

b) The games workshop meltagun pack (5 meltaguns) is probably the cheapest way to get yourself meltaguns from what I've seen. Another option I've used in the past is using weapon scopes cut up as a melta barrel. Not as elegant, not as bulky looking and it takes some fiddling to get them straight but it works in a pinch. Add a bit of sprue to the side of the ammo clip (the bits of sprue that have one angle on the top) and you've got a "special ammo" box as well.

I have a load of combi-meltas in my space wolf army. I used an inferno pistol and a bolter.
The gun ends up with the melta part being underslung like a grenade launcher on an M-16.

I use special and combiweapons from Eurobitz. They look great I think. And the bitz come from Sweden.
