I've always loved the look of the Grey Knights and I like their tabletop rules. But I hate their fluff and despise their chapter as a whole. I was wondering what conversions of GK models I could do to transform them into a different chapter, but keep the same rules. I thought about pre heresy thousand sons, since the gold and red is a slick look . Thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea. Expensive, unfortunately, if you stick with the Forgeworld models, but it would be an absolutely gorgeous army with a lot of modelling opportunity.

What kits would I need to use to make the conversion look good and be true to the fluff?

Changing the look of your army doesn't change the codex you use, or the fluff found in that codex. You'd have to make up your own fluff either way. If you like the GK models you might as well use them, paint the army differently and make up your own fluff, and still use their rules. Perfectly fine. Going beyond that would just be harder, you'd have to make them look enough like GK so that with a glance people can tell they're GK.

Yeah, I know. I'd still like to explore the options.

Maybe exorcists desendances of the grey knights?
I don't know much apart from the fact they are a daemon host for a while to make them immune to possession.
