This Sunday at NOON, we’ll be hosting our next Warhammer 40k TOURNAMENT!!!

Below is all the info you’ll need for the event. This will be the first tournament at EG where the 40K IA stamped models will be LEGAL!! In practice, these models have brought a new element to 40k and created a new wrinkle to bring balance to the game.

Day: Sunday, February 17th 2013

Time: 12:00 pm NOON

Entry Fee: $10.00 or you free with purchase of something of $25.00

Points: 1,850

Army Construction: All armies must use the standard and most up to
date codex!

Painting: Models DO NOT have to be painted to play in the tournament!!

However, painting score is a portion of the BEST-OVER-ALL award and if your army is not painted, then it will be hard to win BEST-OVER-ALL.

We’ll use a painting rubric which scores painting! Things such as: 3 color minimum, high level details, squad markings, individual model details, basing, advanced basing, and overall army theme will be scored.

WYSIWYG: All MODELS must be WYSIWYG!!! This stands for What You See Is What You Get. This means all units must be easily identifiable, as the particular codex choice they represent. All weapons options, must be clearly represented on the model.

Forgeworld: Will be allowed. See the rules below. Forgeworld models must be WYSIWYG!

*Forgeworld models/rules will be permitted with the following caveats:

1. The model must have official Forgeworld rules (not experimental).

2. The model’s rules set must possess the “40K” approved stamp.

3. You must have the official Forgeworld rules with you.

Awards: The following awards will be given out.

BEST-OVER-ALL: Player with the highest combined battle points and painting score.

BEST GENERAL: Player with the most battle points.

BEST PAINTED: Player with the best painted and best themed army.

BEST SPORTSMAN: Player who receive the highest amount of favorite opponent votes.

Mission Rules: The missions themselves are being finalized, but will be as similar to our last edition rules.

*The following rules from the BRB will be in use.

1. Warlord Traits. Players will be roll 1d6, on 2 of the 3 tables in the BRB. Then select ONE of those results!! The “Legendary Fighter” and other criteria based Warlord Traits will be modified.

2. Mysterious Objectives will be in use.

3. The MASSACRE rule will be in place. If you table your opponent, then you will receive max battle points.

4. Mysterious Terrain will *NOT* be in use.

5. Random Game Length will be used as per the BRB.

6. Night Fight rules will be as per the BRB.

7. Reserves may be uses as per the BRB.

FAQS: Official Games Workshop FAQS will be in use!! In the event that a question is not answered, then the TO will make a ruling. This ruling will be final.

Tournament Etiquette: Players will all be required to conduct themselves like adults!! Any player who fails to conduct themselves as such will be removed from the tournament without a refund and asked to leave.

It's way too short notice to get my army ready for 1850 this time, but two questions:

1) Will FW army lists (for example, the Armored Battlegroup list just released in IA1) be legal? It doesn't have the "40k stamp" in the same way that the units do, but the description says it's meant for use with the standard rulebook missions and it is fully updated for 6th (warlord traits, etc).

2) Will future events also allow FW rules, or is this just a one-time thing?

Low Orbit over Prospero

Here is my question with WYSIWYG... Grey Hunters have bolt pistols, bolters, and close combat weapons as part of their war gear. Am I going to have to figure out how to represent all three on the model so that I can use that piece of gear in the game?

I'm fairly sure that most people will not care about basic gear, especially seeing as not every model in the Grey Hunters box even has all three of those.

The Seraphs of Thunder: a homebrew, almost entirely converted successor Deathwing. And also some Orks. And whatever else I have lying around.

@Peregine: No. Only units. Battle formations are not legal.

@Forrest: No you don't have to show Bolt Pistol, Bolter, and CCW. No one really cares about showing all 3. Similar to Frag/Krak grenades.

To clarify, I was asking about the army lists (which are for normal 40k, and work just like any codex army list), not the Apocalypse-only formations (which would obviously be banned).

Also: will future events continue to allow FW units, or is this a one-time event?

@Peregine: No those army lists are not legal.

And the plan going forward is to use IA for the next few events to give it a go in a tournament environment.

Had a little bit of Forge World. IG Vulture all I can remember off top of my head.

Best Overall was won by Chaos Daemons unique.

Best General was taken by Orks w/ Necrons allies.

We had a great turnout for a Sunday event with 16 tough and seasoned players. This tourney had some of the stiffest competition yet in 6th ed. with players from all over the state and a group of friends from South Carolina.

The most popular combination on the day was Dark Eldar/Eldar or vice versa. Lots of folks using Fire Dragons + Exarch or Fuegan in Bastions.

In addition to all the Eldar and Dark Eldar we also had Orkz w/ Necrons, Daemons, IG, Dark Angels w/ Blood Angel, Space Wolves w/ Blood Angels, IG, IG w/ Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Dark Angels, Orkz, and a few Chaos Space Marine players.

The FORGEWORLD impact was pretty minimal with the only pieces used being a Vulture for IG and a special character for the Orkz. I thought we would see Missle Pods and Contemptor Dreadnoughts, but they weren't to be had.

As Arbalest mentioned Best Overall went to Daemons and Best General went to Orkz w/ Imotekh Necrons. Best Painted went to Charlie Lowry and his beautiful Eldar army and Best Sportsman went to Horton Doughton who some of you may know from Adepticon and the ATC.

All in all it was a fantastic day of 40K! We have a couple military guys shipping out at the end of March so our next one will probably be in about 3 weeks time. Want to give the chance to play in one more before deploying.

PS. I'll be posting the new and updated EG Tournament Primer on my website soon. www.endlessgaming.net. This is the tournament mission me and the Wrecking Crew designed that was then used in the ATC. The new 6th ed. scoring system is pretty sweet and we got a ton of compliments about it this weekend.

Stay tuned for more cool events from EG. To the rest of you guys I don't get to see very often, me and the rest of 40KWC will be at Adepticon in a couple months! See you then!

I know myself and the other Fayetteville crew enjoyed coming up for a day of gaming and checking out your great shop. Definitely will keep my eyes open for your next event. Thanks for hosting another great event.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
