Like it

Suggest replace Lysander, they alphastrike so no bolter drill till turn 2

If you tool gate Libby to evac the sternguard, lose the third pred, you have 160 pts

I would go TFC then lose a few combis and take rhino/razors for the Tacs. Searchlights and mobility are useful.

I kinda like where that is going, seems to be an upgrade, and keeps the fire base of my army strong, if not stronger.

I was thinking of using Lysander mostly as a shield to keep those expensive sternguard alive longer, but probably better to be able to move them around

The extra razorback will also provide some extra dakka

I don't know how the points massaging would work out, but if you could swap those plain dreads with Ironclads, you'll have a much stronger list. AV13 is *huge* on a walker (Immune to Kraks, S9 las cannons glance on 4's). Put a pair of meltaguns under the arms and your anti-tank is still as good (more shots, shorter range) than with the plain dreads.

I would second the use of Ironclads in the Pods, the AR 13 is too important to pass up.

Is AV 13 really that helpful however?
Against Krak Grenades, they hit on 4's with one attack...and glance on 6's, not really the best odds.
I could drop the razorback most likely to shell out for ironclads most likely?

10 Marines hit on 4's, get 5 hits, and a glance. You have 3 hull points. If your dread has only 2 attacks, killing one marine per round, those tacticals take you out in 3 rounds, killing you on your turn (ouchies)

So basically, there's still no good way to run dreads in 6th edition because of hull points.

I updated the list to include ironclads, and dropped the razorback and a combi weapon to afford it.

If your running your librarian with combi-plas & melta sterns, why have the avenger? The only reason to have avenger is to deal with 1. Hordes, 2. MEQs, 3. 1&2 combined. Your stern loadout seems to be anti-TEQ/vehicle, so it doesn't make much sense in this loadout. I would trade avenger for Dome, Smite or (if you are truely ballsy)Vortex of Doom. Dome is a durability enhancer, granted situational; smite is AP2, so it synergizes with the combi-plas(with multiple shots too); Vortex is S10 AP1, but it is a template and perils places template on self with no scatter, and its heavy.

I've had luck with Vortex and GOI as my two powers. If you run 5/5 combi melta/plasma in a 10 man squad, with a libby thrown in you could have some fun.

Deploy out of pod with combat squads and move 6". The meltas pop the nastiest armor or transport available.

The second squad then proceeds to kill off the transports' contents, or nearest big bad infantry squad. Double tap plasma and a Vortex, by by squad.

Next round use the liby to port out whatever squad has the most guys left and leave the rest to use their special ammo to best effect.

Dreads with AV 13 are still pretty mean, espeically if delivered via drop pod. It helps if they have non-trivial shooting, because they can still get melta to the face before they assault. Unless you are not BA and cough up for the Lucious I think it is?

I like the idea of ironclad launchers. Deploy from pod into ruins, after all you move through cover well. You then get better cover against close weaponry.

I like meltagun and 2 HKs or twin HFs, leaning to the second.

Dump sternguard with 5 cm, 3 cp and 2 hf, then the IC dread with 2 more hf. Throw in some lascannons from tac squads and its going to be painful.

I agree, but if you really want to deal the pain those FW Lusius pattern Drop Pods are worth their weight in gold, and I consider them points well spent.

One Ironclad with duel melta can drop, shoot at a tank from within 6" (it will probably die), then charge a midsize infantry squad so you're tied up in CC through your enemies shooting phaze.

Plus, if you do it right, you can deploy your stern to shoot, then have much of their LOS blocked by the resulting ironclad CC to make it harder for the enemy to focus fire on them

What would you suggest I drop to afford the Lucius pattern pods for my dreds?
Only thing i can think of is my sternguard's combi-weapons, I need 30 points

Actually the Lucius pods are 65pts not the 35 for regular pods. I'll see if I can take a closer look at your list a little later (at work) and provide some possible re-works or trimming to afford them as you definitely want to keep the combis on the sterns.

Yeah, doubly so now that the rumors are that all Codex Marine army's will be getting access to the Stormraven in the upcoming fliers book.

They can have them. I don't much care for the stormraven myself. I only bring it to shoot other flyers. But yeah, it does make the codex that much less competitive I guess.

Yeah, it sucks that you have no choice but to pay for the transport capacity when all you really want is an AA flying tank.

Yes, because hauling things in it is not good. They both become reserves and can die if it crashes. It's nuts in my opinion.

To properly cost the Lucius pods, i took off the heavy bolter sponsons from a predator, and most of my combi weapons for the sternguard, who may need to rely on their special ammo to alpha strike (maybe using Psynicience?)

If you're taking the pred down to just its main gun, I'd just go ahead and can the thing. Use the 60pts to re-combi the stern or mabey buy a specialized speeder (MM/MM or HF/HF) as a nice cheap suicide unit to back up the stern

Avenger can help with ravager / venom spam if your coming in drop pod, they all have cover so nice to deny that

I have a codex right in fornt of me *perusing Psychic Powers*...looks to me like Avenger doesn't have Ignore Cover special rule. *Reading template weapons info* Opps, missed that point.

If i was facing forces like that, i would rather go to protecting the precious and expensive cargo (sternguards, 10 of them, 9 with combi-weapons). Btw, are those DE bikes/light vehicles, im not versed at all on DE stuff.
