A buddy of mine found a cool model that made him want to create a Chaos Lord mounted on a Beast of Slaanesh. Seeing that he is cavalry, he was trying to noodle out how to use a Lord like this.

Any ideas?

Out flank beasts or bikes kgo

I use it with a CSM unit of 20 augmented by fabius bile...(bile is always safely across the board)

They come into play together, but if it's a tactical advantage i split them apart...i've had nothing but success in this manner

I put my chaos lord riding a captured tyrannid lictor as the beast of slaanesh.

I equip him generally with a plasma pistol, powersword (murder if the game is high point) and the'familiar' to give him two more hits...so, three base plus one from the steed, two from familiar, one from pistol/sword, and presumably one from the charge gives him 8 attacks at initiative 6.

The best part about him is the speed, he can plough through pissant guard, tau and eldar. One game by turn 4 i took out 4 groups of'nid gaunts with him...he wasn't even on the board until turn 2.

I actually have a lead CSM on a mount from back in the day that I am planning on making an option for my list. I was thinking doing something crazy like dual power swords, as I am looking at doing EC, but PF+LC is very tempting. Both are Specialist weapons, so you get the bonus attack and you can now choose to use the fist at Str 8, Init 1 with a ton of attacks or the LC at the Init and use Shread. Just gives you options for whatever your fighting at the loss of the pistol. If you don't like the PF, at least take Melta bombs. I dig a 4+ Invuln save, but at 25pts it is pricy. All depends on how much you want to spend. Here is a mini-Deathstar I made up for a Biker/Steed Lord. I kinda consider this bare minimum, so add bikes as you see fit, as each one will be at least 23pts.

To mix a steed with a bike unit can be a very bad idea. The bikers get a 5+ Jinksave, the steed dont. The enemy can chose to focus fire on the lord.
And isnt Icon of excess really expensive? If so, shouldnt you make the unit alittle bigger to reduce the cost per model.

Another popular option is to give the lort the flamethrower form the relics wargear, cant remember the name. And put him in a unit of spawns.

Mix it with raptors (with icon of excess).
Outflank (or infiltrate with Huron) and have fun.

PF + LC is 40 points. Very good vs. MEQs. Depending on your local meta, you may want to consider the black mace.

Spawn or bikes
With spawn he gives them a champion.
With bikes he can use the bike champion to accept challanges he wants to avoid so he can chop through troops.

Both are equally valid and equally effective.
