Do I have to prove all my war gear on my grey hunters, ie. bolt pistol, bolter and ccw as per the wysiwyg rule?

1) WYSIWYG isn't a rule per say - it's a player convention.
2) Normally stuff that comes default is assumed to be there - if you swap a bolter for a Meltagun (for example) the model should have a Meltagun but you still don't have to model the bolt pistol or ccw.

That being said, I model everything on my wolves, because that way it's easier to remember who has three weapons and who only had two...

Do you have to? No
Should you for both, rule of cool and Wysiwyg? Yes it

But it is your decision if they doubt you show 'em the codex.

You mean where (in almost every codex) it says you have to model upgrades?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

The bolter, pistol and ccw aren't upgrades here so imho you don't have to model them all

Sorry. It's only the older codexes (i.e. Tau, daemons, Eldar, Black Templars) that specifically state you cannot field models that are equipped with weapons or wargear not show on the model.

I arm my gh with ccw and bolter, it makes it impossible to mistake them from blood claws.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

That's not so much the problem. I differentiate my GH from my BC by squad markings.. but it's still nice to have a visual reminder that the Hunters have pistols while the attached Wolf Guard (with a CCW and combiweapon) doesn't.

I would prefer to see all three weapons and as a bare minimum the bolter and ccw. If you're going to a tournament it's best to ask the TO ahead of time.

Me too. My only GH models which don't have bolters are the dudes with MotW. But in this case it's obvious because he's the feral looking guy with bare arms and two CCW's. Technically, MotW is an upgrade so it must be modeled.

I don't think you should have to put frag grendades (for example) on every grey hunter. That said, it isn't too difficult to model BP, Bolter and CCW. Either model a bolter and chainsword in his hands and a bolt pistol in a holster, or model a bolt pistol and bolter in his hands with a combat knife on his belt. Or you could affix a bayonet to the end of the bolter I suppose.

I differentiate GH, BC and WG by the colors on their right shoulder pads.

Grey Hunters = Red and Black
Wolf Guard = Black and Yellow
Blood Claws = Red and Yellow

I differentiate the packs by the actual marking on their right shoulder pad. All of my models have the same thing on their left shoulder pad - a black space wolf on a yellow back ground.
