So, Im a long term empire player, and in the new edition have been having fun with my infantry blocks. However, I've been getting a bit bore. One of my regular opponants uses a tzeench, khorn and burgle chaos army and I spent some time flipping through his book.

This got me thinking, I like the idea of going polar opposite of my empires large slow blocks and trying out a MSU chaos army. If I were to do this I'd likely be trying it out with a slannesh heavy list. Use the super fast cav to chase down chaff and units forced to flee from creatures with terror. And using multiple waves of minimum sized flail marauders to wear the opponent down, and shadow magic to teleport combat characters around to where they need to be.

This would likely be an up hill fight, with lots of hit and run style fighting. But sounds totally different, a small army to build and a good change of pace. Has anyone who tried this out before had much luck with it? Any advice or suggestions on how to build such an army?

The new WoC book made hordes unappealing as Marauders got too expensive and Warriors are bad horde units anyway. Overall, MSU is a reasonable approach - Chariots now being core and the smaller, elite units being strong....WoC is the army you're looking for and should work just fine with a MSU approach

Hmm I must say I never really gave MSU Marauders too much thought. With Slaanesh you'll be ignoring the inevitable panic which is good. Though Khorne will get you more punch before they expire

Anyways though as said warriors are well built for MSU. Hard armor, decent LD, really fast smashy units, one of the fastest fast cavalry in the game, one of the most armored monster cav in the game, friggin chimeras

Watching a Skaven Warplock hit my unit of Juggerknights with Warp Lightning for THREE TURNS IN A ROW (thanks to a spectacularly failed charge on my part) was rather amusing. Yeah he low balled his first roll (only 2 hits) but he got a couple other good hits in and still failed to do a single wound.

Stupid Juggernaught armor for the win.
