Bonjourno Dakkarno

So, I have a game on Saturday in York against my brother in laws Tau and my Dad. My Dad doesn't collect, though the store have agreed to give him an intro game to teach him some stuff, and to lend him their Orcs which is cool. The initial idea is for us to have an every man for himself game at 500 points each. I've created 2 lists, one at 496 and one at 1000 points. That way if the 1v1v1 game doesn't work out, they can team up against me as I'm sure they will anyway!

Here are the lists, c&c welcome:

500

HQ

Archon
- Blaster
- Power Maul
- Ghostplate Armour
- Shadow Field

Elites

3x Blasterborn (Archon goes here)
- Venom with Dual SC's

Troops

5x Warriors
- Venom with Dual SC's

5x Warriors
-Venom with Dual SC's

So here, I've beefed my Archon up a shade and gone with double armour buffs. Why? Because the last time I didn't my archon was beaten in cc by a fething Shas-el. Nope, I'm not kidding, that actually happened. So I've kept him off the drugs this time, try to make sure they don't addle his brain again! I've given him a power maul as I want to up his strength

The blasterborn were brilliant at this level in their last game. Admittedly we played on a smaller board so it was close to their advantage, though their ability to outmanouver everything out there and ID some crisis suits was just brilliant, so I'll definitely be bringing them again!

Not much to say about the Warriors really, they do what they do. I might be inclined to leave them dismounted in cover, popping what they can, and leaving the venoms free to kamikaze whatever apparent threats there are.

1000

HQ

Archon
- Huskblade
- Drugs
- PGL
- Shadow Field

Elites

4x Incubi (Archon goes here)
- Venom with dual SC & chain snares

3x Blaster born
- Venom with Dual SC

(Don't laugh, I'm taking them)

5x Mandrakes
- Nightfiend upgrade

Troops

10x Warriors
- Splinter cannon
- Raider with Disi Cannon, FF & Splinter Racks

5x Warriors
- Shredder
- Venom with Dual SC

Heavy Support

Razorwing
- Disi Cannons
- 2x Monoscythe missiles
- 2x Necro toxin missiles

Tactics here will depend on deployment. The mandrakes are going to stop the biggest guns on the table from shooting at me, be this a horde of boys, or a broadside team. I've used them before to this effect and whilst they don't chew through anything with great abandon, they give me that 1st turn threat mitigation that enables me to close with my opponent or to manouver in to a position in preparation for turn 2 without having to worry about said threat.

The Archon & Incubi will close with enemy commanders and chop the gak out of them. I'm hoping for a truly epic battle against a beefy warboss to write up The blasterborn and warriors will do what they do best, hunting targets of opportunity, whilst the Razorwing chucks out pie plates for me. The necrotoxin missiles should be especially useful vs a horde of boyz!

So there we are. I'll feed back on how it goes, though I'm interested to see what you guys & gals think in advance of the game (and how many people tell me to drop the mandrakes )

Just quickly glancing over you can easily drop the necrotoxin missles, put those 10pts into a Flickerfield for the Razorwing. You just dont need them when monoscythe are still wounding on a 2+

I actually had one on there originally, though dropped it to better combat the orcs, iirc they're a larger template and guarantee a 2+ wound vs any toughness. I figured with everything hitting on 6's and likely glancing just 50% of the time that they actually connect, it would be a pretty pointless upgrade

Ran my 500 point list and kicked ass, accounting for a good number of tau and orc heads. Came second when alls said and done though only through my own stupidity, having placed the 2 warrior squads within charge range of his warboss, nobs and boys on turn 6. I'd led the way on kill points right up to that point, had I not conceded those units I'd have won the game.

Better luck next time I guess.

Had a couple of open table death matches between my archon and his shas el, and just couldn't get past his inv save. Then tried out kheradruakh and lost, then a haemy and lost. Fml.
