Hello all,

I am getting ready to paint a huge horde of Tyranids and am debating the scheme to do. I have a few ideas and wanted to get some opinions on them.

the two schemes are:

Black glossy with very small blue highlights on the edge of the carapaces to make it look like the shells are really dark blue, bodies would be black and undertone musculature (under the exoskeleton) would be blue as well to give an overall dark look (aliens themed). I would also slime the bigger bugs up to make them look even more like Segorny Weaver's wost nightmare.

The other one is bleached bone exo with dark insect-ish green carapace and musculature, using an iridescent green paint on the bigger bugs to make them have a June-bug/scarab like look.

Any recommendations are very welcome

Try painting these combinations on to card or plastic sheet.

If that helps show the way, then you might try a test model.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

The Tyranids were inspired by the Xenomorph, so the first one would be nice homage, but since it's so obvious just by looking at them then I'd go with the second theme. But Tyranids are ever changing, and having an odd one out of the bunch never hurts, so do two test models and see what you like better.

id go for the paintscheme with the biggest contrast.... it wont be natural but its a good look for tyranids and stands out way better
