Subject: Lelith on a quad gun

I'm seeing a lot of people postinga bout using Fire dragon or reaper exarchs on a quad gun and gaining the benefit of their crack shot or tank hunter powers.
I thought the BRB stated that emplaced weapons were the only weapons that could benefit from special rules, and that WEAPON EMPLACEMENTS ie a gun behind an aegis defence line, did not qualify, only bolters that are "emplaced" on a bastion for example were eligible.
My question is this, if its ok for exarchs to do this, then why can Lelith not use her "Penetrating blade on one" it is a special rule as is crack shot or tank hunter. It also says "her attacks ignore armor" not her cc attacks. The BRB also clearly says shooting ATTACKS in several places, which leads me to believe that attacks...consist of both shooting and CC.
I have not used this in play as it extremely cheap, I just want to know why people are saying its not allowed.
Thanks

It appears to me to be allowed. Who's saying that it's not?
Emplaced weapons (page 96) is quite expliicit that "all relevant special rules from the firing model and the weapon are used", but Weapon Emplacements (page 105) doesn't say not to use them; it just says the model fires it in place of his own weapon, using the normal rules for shooting. Which does not seem to me to be a prohibition on using his special rules, which is how he normally shoots.

Local gamers and one tournament orgainzer in my area said "it wasn't what GW intended for the rule", I'm not even going to dive into that one. I would never second guess a tourney rep (its their tourney). I think people are just scared of 4 S6 shots at BS 9 that ignore armor.

Dont have a DE codex, so I'm unfamiliar with her rules. As long as the attacks are not defined as melee attacks then I would say that she can use the quad gun with the rule.
If anyone says that she can't, most likely due to the Idea she only has melee weapons and its called the Penetrating blade. Neither of which has any basis on what the rule will allow.

I think the reason people would rule against this is because of intent. Leliths rules were written for an older edition, where she did not have ranged attacks. GW is bad at finding these things.
That said if someone wanted to run lelith I would probably allow it.

You are right about the rules being written for an old edition, however, they have FAQ'd 3 times, and modified Leliths other ability twice. Meaning either they left in intentionally (not likely), or that they missed it twice. I have no sympathy for GW if they missed it.....I'm still waiting for plastic sisters....

This may be hijacking, but if this is the case (and perhaps this has already been clarified and I missed it) does this mean that a character firing the quad gun who rolls 6s can place the wound on any model he wants in the unit as per the precision shots rule on pg. 63?

Not saying you should have sympathy, but they miss things all the time (especially if it has not been asked.) I see it this way RAW I believe it works as you describe. But I feel like if GE ever does FAQ it the answer will be no.

Does this mean Flash Gitz firing a quadgun can deny cover saves to flyers with their 'gitfinder'?
"Flash Gitz' shooting weapons have the Ignores Cover special rule"
Is a quadgun a shooting weapon of the Flash git when he is shooting it? Ignores cover means no evasion rolls.

Short answer, Yes.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

If the gitz weapons have the rule and not the gitz themselves then no they cannot use that rule while firing the quadgun.

The Gitfindaz rules are seperate wargear.
Basically cybernetic eyepieces.
They aren't part of the gun or it's rules.
