Hello,
After seeing Biostrip20 mentioned on one of the many threads asking how to strip old models I decided to give it a try, Here's my results and they're not short of amazing, in fact this is pretty perfect.
I bought the 500ml tub as I thought it easier to just drop the models in and leave, it can be found on ebay for £10 delivered or online at www.restexpress.co.uk for approx £9 delivered. It also claims to be ecofriendly, smells nice and hadn't damaged my hands at all, I didn't use gloves. They state it's effective in 30 - 60 min when used for it's intended purpose.
Metal - I had 2 models I had attempted to strip earlier but they had been left with black primer in the creases of the metal, I left them for 20 min when I lifted them out the black was dripping of the model, quick clean and scrub with a toothbrush under a running tap and they are good as new. I then put in another model that was fully painted and left it for 20 min, again the paint was dripping off it, same cleaning process as before and 99% of the paint was gone, I repeated the process and it's clean as a whistle.
Plastic - I decided to test this on a plastic painted model, I left it for approx 40 min to an hour (got distracted). Again the paint dripped off and running it under a tap washed most of the paint off, toothbrush cleared the rest. The model is paintless, has no signs of damage or softening and is ready to prime again, in fact again it looks new.
Only slight negative is my method of dropping it in the tub, with the paint sripping off freely I wonder if the soltion will get clogged up, or become less potent.
This is a nice smelling, none damaging (to my skin) and has done the business on both metal and plastic and for the sake of £9 you get an effective long lasting (I think) solution for stripping your unloved models!
Hope this helps people.
