Hi there - this is my latest Tyranid model, just to see how the Moot Green bits would look with a Moot Green / White Scar 1:1 highlight, but I think I prefer the greater contrast when it isn't highlighted, as on Carnifex in the last pic, so I'm probably going to paint this back to just Moot Green eventually. Thought I would show it as is anyway, hope you like it

Very nicely done...I always like the tyranids that are painted with bright colors because it is very realistic as to how nature is with their "warning" colors.

I love the swarmlord !
You should paint the swords in another colour though, to enhance the chitin colour.

Lovely colours with solid highlights. I would love to see an entire 'Nid army done this way.

Thanks, so would I, have a nice 2500 point list worked out, just need the £400 odd, working on it

Many thanks dudes - I have thought about a different colour for weapons but decided to go for a 2 colour scheme, so either its green bendy bits, or yellow hard bits, with red everything else. I know this loses the ability to highlight the weapons, but I wanted to try make them look just like any other part of the creature, see how it would work, easier too for the lazy painter, ahem. The smooth transitions are more a case of great paints and forgiving photography than any skill on my part, but I will work to improve them

Daymn dats one bright nid.

Kinda out of the "fluff" that people gave them but it still works.

Bright colors from natural development? Must be poisonous....

Ah well ….

This iteration of the Swarmlord has been spawned within a Splinter Fleet consisting of 6 Hive Ships and support craft, which broke away from Hive Fleet Gorgon undetected by Tau or Imperial forces, shortly after its first encounter with the Tau, and long before the eventual destruction of Gorgon on Kel’Shan.

The Splinter Fleet was spotted some years later by a Rogue Trader, who triangulated its target as a dust cloud in the Soluta star cluster, many thousands of light years to the galactic North of Tau space and high in the galactic plane.

Local Imperial forces finally received the report of the Splinter Fleet from the Rogue Trader late in 915.M41 (the delay due to this particular Trader placing rather more import on trading than keeping the Imperium up to date on local affairs, for which he was duly 'reprimanded'), a full decade after Gorgon was thought completely destroyed. They have codified the Splinter Fleet as Hive Fleet Neuteneath, and despatched a scouting force of a Dauntless Light Cruiser and 3 Cobras Destroyers to investigate the dust cloud. Whether Neuteneath has already reached the dust cloud, and why such a target would warrant such a sizeable Splinter Fleet, is currently unknown.

As the scouting force may discover, at the heart of this dust cloud lies a single, mysteriously stable blue dwarf, around which revolves a verdant Death World, largely covered with bright yellow trees and other foliage, in a sea of vivid green grass and reeds. With red bits. In orbit around the planet lies the ancient wreckage of many ships, including Eldar, Ork and Astartes craft, and others unseen for millenia ...

The skill of your paint job: Very nice! Good job.

The colors you picked...why did I leave my sunglasses in my coworker's car?! I'm pretty sure you burned my retinas. Still, if you're going for the idea that was suggested earlier about "nature's warning colors", then you're off to a very good start.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Shenanigans!

I wen't through a four stage test process (Gaunts, Raveners, Carni, Tyrant), each with a thread on here, to come up with a colour scheme I liked and I thought was at least vaguely original. I have a 3000 point, all-plastic list worked out which whilst not particularly competitive would be pretty spectacular. In the WD that arrived today is a small Nid army that uses exactly the same colours but way, way better, and to add insult to injury a Goldem Demon winning Tyrant that is also green/yellow and so well painted I can't even conceive how to paint like that, never mind actually doing it.

This is clearly the Choas Gods punishment for not doing Iron Warriors like I was thinking about .
