Hi,

it has been a while since I' ve been able to invest some time into the hobby.

because of that and because i bought an airbrush and compressor that hasn't been used yet, I decided to paint my dark eldar flyers.

Since I don't really have any experience in using an airbrush yet I tried various things with the airbrush so as blending and highlighting.

both flyers were primed and painted in a dark grey and them some violet.

As I hadn' t expected to look satisfyingly, I took no photos of the first steps.

after that I addes some Icons to the flyers. Thatfor I made some simple stencils.

for the icons I chose a torquoise and also used the colour on the underside.

that color is quite dark and not very good to see on my pics (sorry for the bad quality)

but I wanted to add another layer with a brighter colour so that it would like the icon to have a shadow

next step was to paint the gemstone-crystal thingies all over the jets. I used a brush for them. I didn't want to push my luck and have to start again.

then I added some hihlights using the airbrush and the pilot.

then I tried to attach the cokpit ceiling and had to find out that my pilot' head sticks out about 2mm to far.

after some minutes of futile swearing and repainting because some idiot scratched the paint when he removed some part of the model

I'm very happy how the model turned out so far and it's really fun to use the airbrush.

next steps will include basing (I reallly suck at that) and the venom still needs to be crewd, weapons haven't benn painted yet but magnetised.

C&C welcome, especially some tips from experienced airbrushusers would be apreciated

I'm digging the colors, and the paint work. I would still go back and do some brush edge highlights, etc. But other than that I think they look pretty darn good.

Great for a first attempt.

The grey colour you based the model on looks fairly green in the pictures, which combined with the purple highlights makes it look almost iridescent. The green templates look good too. I'm looking to get an airbrush to paint up my Nightwing and Phoenix at a later date, and you've inspired me to sort it out sooner.

Thanks for the kind words.

@Wagguy80: I thought about what you said and I share your opinion about the highlights.

although I normally prefer harsher highlights I was rather carefull here.

that done I had to think about the bases.

as I already mentioned I'm not good at basing. In my mind my ideas look far better than in reality.

in the end the bases shall look as if the eldar jets a flying over a rocky desert landscape with sharp pointy rocks sticking out of the dirt.

we will see if they will look like that when I am done.
