Hey all, quick question about combat resolution.

I understand that in a challenge additional wounds dealt are counted into the combat res. Do additional wounds dealt to rank and file count too? For instance if a rank and file is killed with weapon using the rule each unsaved wounds become two, D3 or D6 wounds. Would those additional wounds count towards combat resolution? (even though they didn't kill any more models?)

Example: using the empire mace of d6 woundy thing. A wizard hits and wounds an opponent, rolls a d6 and gets a 6. would the combat bonus be +1 for killing a 1 wound model? or +6 for dealing 6 wounds?

No, they do not count. The challenge rules give a specific exception for more wounds than the model has. You can do 6 wounds to a 1 wound model all you want, but you will only get 1 for combat resolution purposes.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

So how would that work with multi wound troops, like Ogres?

How it works is this.

For every wound you score on the RnF that is not saved, roll the multiple wounds. But the max you can do is 3.

Basically, a single hit cannot kill more than one model. If its multiple wounds D6, any roll higher than 3 is wasted as it caps at 3.

If you do 3 wounds with a multiple wound D6 weapon, the most you can kill is 3 ogres.

If you rolled a 1, a 2, and a 6 for multiple wounds, you would only kill 2 ogres. The 6 is capped at 3, then you add the other 3 wounds. For a total of 6 wounds caused, so 2 ogres are removed from the unit.
